I'm sure Dave would love to be in the studio with Sam and sing to his guitar playing.

It will never happen. Ed has passed on. Get used to it... at best we will get a one off tribute concert to raise money for charity. That’s it...

Eventually when the Covid restrictions end & touring resumes....

Both Sam & Dave will be unfairly mocked & unjustly ridiculed by the large contigient of EVH VH fans.

Both Sam & Dave will go out doing their thing as they've both already done countless times & one tour together....

BUT- Now that EVH is no longer with us...I predict a large amount of EVH VH fan's will accuse both VH vocalists as " cashing in" on the VH material.

They will both be accused of being washed up hacks scraping the barrel cashing in on the VH legacy shamefully performing VH material.

I gaurantee it. Just wait a couple years & see.

BUT- What these mouthy little punk ass " fans" fail to acknowledge is that both Sam & Dave are performing their own material THAT THEY WROTE.

    FFS.

Do Led Zeppelin fans criticise Robert Plant & Jimmy Page performing Led Zeppelin material in their solo shows.....no they didnt...

Did Bad Company fans criticise Paul Rodgers playing Bad Company tunes on his solo tours....no they didn't

Do Pink Floyd fans criticise Roger Waters performing Pink Floyd material.....NO...

Do Beatles fans criticise Paul Mc Cartney for performing Beatles songs.....Fuck No....Are you kidding...

    SEE- What I'm pointing out....

BUT- You don't even have to wait for the future when both Sam & Dave eventually go out on tour....

YOU- Can scroll back on the internet to 2002 to 2006 & read old VH fan commentary with your own eyes & see how stupid as fuck many VH fans truly are....

EVH VH fan's are unjustly super hyper extremley critical about VH music being performed live from both VH vocalists David & Sam.

    " Oh it's a VH tribute act...blah, blah, blah...

Vic butchers the material, blah, blah, blah, "

I could go on & on but you probably already know what I'm getting at....

Of course- It's ok if EVH & AVH perform both VH tunes written with both Dave & Sam with another vocalist...Gary Cherone...Mitch Mallone...Sass Jordon...Patti Smith...

    Oh that's ok.

    What- Who Me? Haha...

Please forgive me my fellow VH brother I was just rambling off the top of my head after clicking this new thread.

I could sense rightaway it's a kooky nonsense novelty topic based upon the first & second posts so just typed whatever I said impulsivly.

BUT- I guess what I was trying to say is I've long been perplexed by the overwhelming lack of enthusiasm most rock fan's display towards the vocalists from big name rock bands in their solo carreers.

Not just VH....but pretty much almost ALL big well known rock acts.

Ozzy & Sting are the only exceptions I can think of where the audience appreciates & supports them ion the same level as the main big act they became known from.

Take Roger Daltrey for example....He's done several solo tours & released numerous albums & live dvds many including WHO material....But always in a much smaller venue than when performing with The Who....Which of course only have 2 original members over a decade now at least...

The Who go on tour they play Arena's....

Roger Daltrey goes on tour....clubs & theaters...

Same voice...much of the same Who material performed....

The Who tour....thousands of fans attend in arena's wordwide....

The singer from The Who goes on tour....He's playing to thousands less in smaller venues....

Where are the fans & what is their logic...." No I'm not going to buy a ticket to see The legendary Who singer live in concert....It's not The Who without Pete Townsend....

What happens when Pete Townsend goes on tour by himself as a solo act....the same Who fans dont attend because its not The Who....

But- They are both legendary artists performing their iconic material live....

Same thing with DLR & Sammy Hagar....

As well as Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden when he was solo. He made several dynamite high quality albums but regulated to performing in smaller venues with much less fanfare. If any at all.

    John Fogerty is another example....

The other CCR guys drew as much as John Fogerty solo without him.

    Pink Floyd another good example....

Pink Floyd played STADIUMS without Roger Waters...

Roger Waters actually did ok all things considered but never packed Stadiums like David Gilmour did touring with the Pink Floyd name....

My point is many rock fans are oblivious to the actual artists in the big name acts when they tour solo....

The rock fans recognize the big brand name & that's all.

So the actual artists are getting screwed by their own fanbase because many wont support them in the same capacity as they did with the main big rock act they are from.

Just doesnt make sense to me at all.

Edward Lodewijk Van Halen is who gets written about in history. Maybe a blurb for Dave’s assless chaps and Hagar’s tequila get mentioned in the footnotes. A paragraph about Alex’s part in hot for teacher and a sentence about Michaels vocals and bass playing.

You would pay to see Rush without Neal Peart? It’s over.

I’m only halfway joking, I would pay to see Alex hit some drums doing some Van Halen but I don’t think he would do it without Edward.

I'd rather see an Alex, Steve Lukather, Billy Sheehan project just jamming and having fun and staying away from VH material.

    Better yet.

Dave needs to put together an EEAS Reunion album and tour.

    That I'd pay for.

I agree it is the truth what I said.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Sammy & The Circle put out a brand new album of new original material last year shortly before the Covid stuck....& shut down touring.

BUT- Where is the enthusiasm & support from the fanbase for the new album? Where?

Oh- Now the fan's dig those impromtu jams playing Good Enough or whatever but why aren't they supporting the new album?

Same thing with Chickenfoot....When Chickenfoot started they toured with great integrity performing new material without relying on the back catolog. Maybe 1 song or a Deep Purple cover.

    Where were the fans?

I'll tell you where the fan's were....

They were right here on the internet griping & groaning because they weren't playing VH tunes...

But- If Chickenfoot did play VH tunes I gaurantee that's all the focus of the fans would pay attention to...& " hypothetically" yipping & yapping about how Joe Satriani played the VH tunes.....

At the same time...in 2012 or so....VH tour....& everything is all about David...." oh his microphone headseat looks gay", " whats up tith the slip & sliding dance floor jazz hands stuff" blah, blah, blah...

Occasionally some attention would be directed towards Edwards shoes....EVH fan's wondered what kind they were, & his black V-Neck T-Shirt actually cost a shitload more than one would assume....It's not just a regular black V- Neck T- Shirt after all....it was a $1000 Lamb Skin collared V-Neck T-Shirt you can only buy in NYC.

" Turn Off The Fucking Air Conditioners!!"

There was never any explanation that I know of why the air conditioners had to be turned off.

They were on in 2007. Of course 2015 was outdoor amphitheaters.

David opened up for the big KISS tour last year in arena's & no air conditioner issues mentioned that I noticed.

    ??????

Chickenfoot had plenty of fans who didn't give a shit if any VH was played. I was one of em and I know a handful I went to shows with who couldn't have given two shits if any VH was played. Certainly doesn't make us the majority but the fans at every show I went to seemed to have been there for Chickenfoot. Not to hear VH.

Would I have loved to have seen them play Good Enough or Judgement Day? Fuck yeah. And Satch would have crushed it.

And yes, the keyboard virtuosos here and elsewhere would have shit on him for not playing the tunes well or for not "doing them justice". Doesn't make em right.

Tribute to EVH is the closest we will get that involves Alex IMO.

Dave will continue to do his solo touring. The Circle is Sam and Mike. Wolfgang will be doing his solo career.
