Floyd Rose housing won’t even budge

I have never had this happen in all my years playing guitar. I’m trying to replace the Floyd Rose on my 5150 with a push in type bar. This is a real German made Floyd and that housing will not come out. I’ve tried a mallet, I put WD-40 in it. It will not budge at all. I can’t even like turn a little bit using a pair of lock pliers. Has anyone else had this problem? What the hell else can I try?

The housing that the bar is connected to. Usually I can usually give a couple taps from a mallet and it comes right out. But this thing is absolutely not moving at all.

Maybe it’s called the socket or collar I don’t know.

I just finally got it loose I had to absolutely pound the fuck out of it with a hammer. I’m not happy I had to do that. I can’t believe how tight that was.

I had to do the same thing with a Gotoh trem years ago. Wanted to replace the bar with one consistent with the rest of my trems but man that thing was on there good. We both arrived at the same solution.

I wasn’t happy I had to hit like a $300 bridge that hard to get it loose. It was crazy. But all done. Got the new bar on there and all is well. I could close this but maybe someone else will have this problem and we’ll need to discuss it in the future or something.

That's happened to me before too with an old Jackson Floyd. That thing wasnt moving.
I got it out though. Ruined the entire bridge and had to replace it with a real Floyd, but I won.

Luckily I didn’t destroy the bridge, but I was getting a little worried. Ruining a $300 Floyd was not on the menu just to replace the arm. I’ve systematically been going through all my Floyd guitars and replacing the arms with the push in arms. I’ve got one to go, my Bee.

thats one reason i like the Ibanez Edge.. they all push ins. of course I am an Ibanez guy, but i have worked with real FR too. and I firmly believe the original and Edge pro are better floyds than the floyd.

I like the Edge and Lo pro's too but I cant trust them anymore. I've snapped too many bars on them (well 3). You're not snapping a real Floyd bar in a hurry

I like the old screw in arms on Floyds. I try to swap all of the standard ones for them.

wow in 40 years ive never even seen a bar bend much less break and i push and pulled pretty savage. i am not sure i could break one on purpose.
you must be a beast lol.

You would be surprised how easy they break. The problem with them is that the bars are not solid. This one is from my old 77FP.
I didnt take photos of the other 2 that snapped, but they broke in the same spot.

Here is another one I have that is bent and about to snap (I'm not using it anymore so it wont but..)

And just for shits and giggles, this is my old 77FP. Still kicking myself in the head for selling it...

Yeah the Ibanez bars are weak but the edge trems are the best around. They are just so reactive and it’s fun to do the pull up and let go so it makes that crazy flutter.
