The Andrew Bennett Book

So I rarely make new topics as you know unless it’s about forum business. Those of you who have been around for a while know I have been very vocal over the years against the Andrew Bennett book, that I am not going to dignify by naming here. If you need to know the name of it just search this guy’s name, you’ll find it.

Before I say what I’m going to say, I want to let it be known that I hold nothing against anyone who has purchased it. We are all fans and we all crave information and stuff about our heroes, and I have absolutely nothing against anybody who purchased this book or anything else that this man has made available to us. This is not about you at all, it’s about him. I just want to make that clear, that I hold no negative judgment about anyone who has purchased it. We’re just fans.

We know that Ed legally went after him to stop him from selling the book, and I don’t know that anyone really knew what happened with the lawsuit, or if it had been posted here. I had been talking in a Facebook group about this subject and somebody actually posted the final judgment from the court. I thought you guys would like to know that Ed was given a complete victory, and this “man” was supposed to comply, which he had not as of last February.

I just felt that as fans you should know the truth about this character and really think about supporting him in the future. I’m not telling you you can’t buy the book, I have absolutely no business telling anyone anything, I just want you to know more about the situation if you ever planned to. The man WAS paid for his work (they settled in 2015), and he breached a confidentiality agreement by releasing it. The guy didn’t even have the balls to stand before the court or respond to the judgment. It’s a very long judgment, but it is very thorough and a good read if you’re interested. There’s a lot of legal jargon and stuff like that but you can get the basis of it.

So in closing, don’t buy this book!

Having followed the court docs as they unfolded, the ONLY thing I can say in regards to AB is “never trust a drunk—unless it’s in writing.”

The guy definitely “worked” for Ed during that time frame. He just got caught up in the his celebrity without making smart business decisions. Live and learn.

I noticed he gave interview to Billboard a couple years ago it looks like and of course talked a lot more shit about the whole thing.

Who’s the “drunk” in your statement? Also, we have no idea what transpired between them and what caused Ed to feel like the guy shouldn’t be paid. Regardless, a settlement was reached on that issue. What he’s done since then speaks volumes about his character. Defying court orders and committing perjury. Not hard to take sides with Ed on this one.

Reading that interview you assume there has to be a degree of embellishment but it makes sense during that time frame. There are videos where Ed is asking for AB by name. The VH website with edited photo of Michael Anthony gives photo credits to AB. I just don’t see why he would lie about it. I’m not defending him or condoning his decisions but yeah... Ed was definitely beyond hope without intervention.

Exactly! He doesn’t have a leg to stand on without a binding agreement.

He’s had a publisher behind it for a while now. Obviously they don’t seem to care about the copyright and intellectual property laws that he has violated.

I’ve actually been thinking that I hope I am not helping his book sales by what I’ve posted today. No publicity is bad publicity for him I’m sure. I hope it’s not telling people that they should go and support this and check it out.

Confession: I pre-ordered the book from Amazon.

I scanned the case. It discusses video and audio, as well as the domain for 5150 rights. I don’t know if applies to the book and, for all I know, the release of the book may have been part of the settlement.

I may cancel the order and put the money on the Halfin book.

Dude you don’t owe anyone an explanation. I just wanted everyone to know the facts of what has transpired with that book and author. He was supposed to hand over everything which of course meant all the images and so forth that he used eventually in the book. So yes the book is definitely part of it. It’s pretty clear that anything he shot from those years is not to be distributed by him.

What’s ironic and I could be wrong about this is, is that the book that is for sale on Amazon is actually a rip off of his book and it’s not the actual publication. So it’s a forgery of an illegal book. You might want to consider not buying it just for that reason alone, that it isn’t even the real thing. I believe he himself has posted that. But of course if you’re buying it through Amazon you aren’t supporting him I guess technically.

He is very vocal about the Amazon copy being a ripoff. I honestly don’t know what to think. I’m connected to him on Facebook and he comes off as pretty genuine and a huge fan of Ed. While I have not met him in person another friend of mine (a person in know outside of the virtual universe) has and said the same. I did purchase the book the other week and while I have not received the book at this point I find it hard to believe that publishers or printers would be associated with all the legal issues. When this first hit the links a little bit ago I avoided the book and had no intention of buying, until after I “met” him through my friend. I understand that he is trying to sell the book and that could be part of it, but those are just my thoughts.
I never met Ed either, but I “love” Ed and what he gave to us. I certainly don’t want to think of him the way he was during those years, but the sad truth is he had his demons and they are part of his life. I am interested in the intimate shots of inside 5150. I also certainty understand your stance of the links not supporting, Brett. As you mentioned, hope no one holds it against me. Thanks.
