My wife, younger sister and her husband were there. I would have been there, but I was in Wilmington, DE for work. 8 days earlier, on 10/7/95, I saw Van Halen with Sammy for the last time at Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore, CA. A friend of mine got us 5th row seats for $100 each.

It's such a sad state that there are multiple pro-shot recordings in existence of live Van Halen performances from all eras that were never publicly released sitting on shelves just wasting away... fucking amazing material... all it needs is the final production work, put to media and distributed...

No fixes required. Master it, put it into the current digital formats and ship it.

I just find the whole moral nonsense of avoiding any semblance of capitalizing/cash grab a bunch of crap. IMO it's almost criminal that the historic record of such great musicians/performances won't be shared with the world.
Woke up this mornin, got Blue Moon in your eyes...

    Hear hear.

But they come from a different mindset I believe, that if the performance isn't up to their standards (like this one), they don't want it out there.

But it isn't the 1990's anymore, you can't prevent this stuff from eventually getting out, warts and all. As you said, better to get ahead of it and release a live version of that tour.

RUSH has some live albums that has warts on it, and if musicians like RUSH can do that, I wish VH could.

Not lamenting, just talking. It's how they are and we aren't going to change them. I'd rather have an official live product, but I simply now burn something from YouTube once I find it and have a new concert to listen to.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

A man's rights rests in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box

You don't often hear Sammy's voice sounding that rough.

Yeah, it was pretty shot. But I get why. Balance tour was the longest tour they ever did. 131 shows in total & this was show 122, and also the 3rd day in a row without a day of rest.

    Eddie's solo was incredible here!

So smooth, just a master at work!

I've said from the beginning of my VH fandom that Ed's playing during the Balance tour was him at his absolute apex, playing wise. The combination of speed & attack was mind boggling.

I understand why people might not like his overall tone during that era, but to me, the wet-dry-wet setup with the Eventide sounded MASSIVE.

I loved Ed's tone on the Balance tour. It was the tone Ed always wanted--up to that point, at least.

Love the tone here! And his fingers are FLYING!

Love how he added a piece of the piano tray solo/Judgement Day seamlessly to the solo!

I was going to go to this show but I already had seen them a couple times earlier and just couldn’t make it happen. I also literally just started dating my wife a couple months earlier so I’m sure I was probably infatuated with that at the time. Haha.
