It was for sure. I didnít have KNE back then, I donít think Mitch was doing anything yet. I bought my first kit from Mean Street Guitars. It was pretty cheap but it was pretty inaccurate too as I came to find out over the years. Thatís why I decided to make a new one a few years ago and sell that one. I wanted to have one with really good parts and that I knew I could paint better.

I like those guys. Chris did almost all of my striped Wolfgangs, and Nick did my Wolfgang Custom Standard refinish from cream to black last fall. Fantastic work.

I started out doing a couple myself, which were fine, but I quickly realized I had the hands for tech work and not the hands and patience for painting.

Iím actually toying with the idea of building a new Rasta and not beating it to hell and making perfectly accurate. This thread is making me want to do it sooner rather than later. We need to stop talking about replicas or Iím gonna spend a shitload of money. Haha.

I love my other one but 11 years of playing it live, taking it to band practice has started really beating it up which of course is perfect for an Ed guitar right? We were practicing one night maybe a year and a half ago before Covid, and my chain strap broke and the guitar came right off my neck and took a big chunk out of one of the horns. So itís bugging me. I would like one that is a bit more accurate, and that I can just keep in the house clean. My original one also has the most amazing neck that I wish I could get duplicated, but even Mitch (KNE) canít seem to make it identical to it, and he made that one. Iíve got a couple that are close. But nothing like that one.

Coming back to this... dug this up to assist with a conversation elsewhere. George painted all of Edís Kramers beginning in December 1982.

I'm in the same boat as you, except I won't be making a Rasta. I've wanted to make a replica for years, but I've yet to have the means to actually accomplish it. And even now, I'm getting married in two months so it'll probably have to wait at least until late this year/early next year. Maybe it'll be something to get my dad, my father-in-law to be and I together.

Anyway, I'm thinking about doing a Bee with a slight twist in the paint job, but does anyone here have any other suggestions if it's not as easy I think?

Well who made the neck is a different thing altogether from who SHAPED the neck profile and who added the wings to the headstock and re-shaped it to the hockey stick shape we all know...thatís Unkert obviously. But who MADE the original neck before it was modified by Unkert? Sports? Not sure on that one...

My 83 pacer special has an ESP beak neck that feels very similar to the 5150 replicas I have gotten from musikraft. The sports necks from what I understand were the wider ones that would have lived on the franky on that US fest show. I have a 84 pacer special with a sports neck and itís wide R5 and flat while the esp neck is an R2. It feels like a symmetrical 5150 neck. Honestly itís one of the best necks Iíve ever played, this one guitar in particular is just bitchin. Of course his could have been completely made for him in USA but the specs sure seem close on my 83.
