German exhibition on Eddie Van Halen available as virtual tour
Today at work, I learned about an exhibtion on Eddie that was supposed to take place from October 23rd to January 24th at the rock'n'pomuseum in Gronau, Germany (near the Dutch border). Unfortunately, the whole country is in total lockdown since November 1st, so it was only open to the public for about a week. If I had known about this earlier, I definitely would have gone there on the first day, since it's only 40 miles away from where I live.
Luckily enough, the people in charge decided to create a virtual tour through some parts of the exhibition (some exhibits and especially audio and video bits are not available online due to copyright laws). Thus, you can at least enjoy some of it from home. If you are interested you can check it out here:
https://www.rock-popmuseum.de/museum...-halen-de.html
(just click on "Zur virtuellen Ausstellung"; I hope it's not geo-blocked or something...)
I just briefly checked it out, and I guess there's nothing new to any of us. But since Van Halen isn't very present on the radio or in the media over here, I think it's quite remarkable that the organizers decicated a whole exhibition to Eddie. By the way, I'm sorry that the audio commentary is only in German, but at least the text on all the plates is also available in English. And then again, most of us already know all the stuff that we can see there, don't we?
Originally, the exhibition was planned to commemorate Eddie's 65th birthday, but now with his death on October 6th, the whole thing has a different feel to it.
The organizers hope to repeat the exhibition in the near future (probably in fall), when this covid-pandemic is a bit more under control.
... and then, I'll definitely go there in person.

This is really cool, thanks for sharing! Hopefully one day, there will be some kind of exhibit like this here in the US with Ed's guitar collection.

Oh man that is amazing!
Thanks for sharing. I would totally geek out in something like that even though there's probably nothing new to us fans. Just being around all that stuff from my favorite band would immediately put a smile on my face.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Nice!
Eddie and VH in general definitely need more appreciation over here.
And no brown M&Ms in the bowl in the fridge. Somebody was paying attention![]()

Yeah, technically it’s Malibu Canyon. It switches names. But yes. That is a very dangerous road to drive crazy on. I’m assuming they took Mulholland from Ed’s to Malibu Canyon and then obviously...
