SR&D Rockman
I used to have the Rockman Soloist back High School, had it until my 30’s, but I lost track of it somehow. I probably packed it away, or gave it away thinking I wouldn’t ever need it anymore.
I recently saw a couple of Rockman X100 demos on YT this morning and fell back in love with that Chorus the Rockman delivers. Have you guys owned, played the Rockman Soloist and or the X100? I’m curious which sounds better and why from your perspective. I’m thinking about picking up a used one just for fun!
Thanks!

I think I still have my X100 kicking around the house somewhere. Back in the 80s I played in a band with a guy who had a Soloist and he had much more gain (distortion, sustain, whatever you want to call it). I thought it was because he had hotter pickups but I plugged in and it was the same with my guitar. I even had the gain control on the back of my X100 cranked all the way up. The overall tone was the same but at the time I wanted a Soloist too.

I had the X100 in the late 80s and always thought it was great because it fit in my guitar case. I used to clip it to the top of my Carvin head where I had some access to the switches, but that little funky blue "dial" for the gain was always a crapshoot.
"Distortion you can bring to church" is a quote I remember. Scholz made some great stuff. I looked at getting another one, but I have other units these days. I'll look out for them on Reverb and ebay if you're in the market.

If you an find the original line Scholtz did they're awesome. People forget he was a engineer at Polaroid & that first Boston record had some revolutionary sounds on it at the time.
Up until I became a VH fan he had my favorite guitar sound. (Smokin is still one of my top 10 rock tunes of all time)
My girlfriend (now wife) let me borrow her dad's headphone Rockman in college when I'd stay over so I could practice; it was a stellar sound! (Though I think she got sick of me always warming up with Boston songs)
