Default All My VH Covers - Audio and Video

So I know I've had a couple threads floating around here with all my covers. I decided to put all my VH stuff in a thread of its own since it's well...a VH site.

Most of these only have audio, I haven't done a lot of VH videos, but I am going to put a few together this week. I feel like doing it. So my list below has a link to the audio files, videos, guitars I used on them, and any notes if you are interested in that sort of thing. All of these are with complete backing tracks. And yes some of the vocals are horrible...just the way it is and how they come sometimes.

These are listed in a random order, because that's how I have my playlist on iTunes set up for them.

Also for some reason the link to "Light Up The Sky" doesn't work on Tapatalk. I can't figure it out...so just make sure you view this one thread outside of that app if you want to hear that song.

    Light Up The Sky
    AUDIO LINK

    Guitars Used: VH Bumblebee Replica
Notes: Used my actual EVH Phase 90 on the bridge, not the Guitar Rig 5 plugin. Also my EVH Flanger at the end of the second chorus for just that tiny part.

    Unchained
    AUDIO LINK

    Guitars Used: VH Circles Replica
Notes: Used my EVH Flanger on this, as you can't do it with anything else. Also did some detune and octave shifting as well.

    Runnin' With The Devil
    AUDIO LINK

Guitars Used: Sawtooth Les Paul Copy (Rhythm) - VH Rasta Replica (Solo)
Notes: One of my older covers. The audio version has some differences from the video audio, as I have made a couple changes and fixes to my original recording.

    Drop Dead Legs
    AUDIO LINK
Guitars Used: VH Sharkocaster Tribute (Rhythm) - Kramer 5150 Replica (Solo)
Notes: One of the harder covers I did to get it to sound decent, and get all the pitch shifting stuff even close to the original. Outro solo is really crazy, I did the best I could with it.

    Dance The Night Away
    AUDIO LINK

    Guitars Used: VH Bumblebee Replica
Notes: Another one of my older covers. Again the audio version has been a bit remixed from the video version.

    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: VH Rasta Replica
Notes: Used my EVH Flanger on this as well. Tried to get the delay stuff set up right so it sounds like the album. Think I got it pretty close. Had to fake the coral sitar lead with a leslie-type effect as I don't have access to a coral sitar.

    Hear About It Later
    AUDIO LINK
Guitars Used: Charvel Shell Pink So-Cal (Single coil mode for intro)
Notes: Used my EVH Flanger on this as well. One of the hardest covers to get it to sound good, and mix decently. Still not 100% settled with it, but it's good for now. Replaced the real awful cover vocals with the actual VH vocals...I don't normally do that, but the backing track ones were HORRIBLE!

    Beautiful Girls
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: VH Bumblebee Replica
Notes: Not much to say on this. Fun song to play. Outro solo took a few takes to get correct.

    Best Of Both Worlds
    AUDIO LINK
Guitars Used: Charvel Root Beer DK24 (Single Coil Mode)
Notes: Hard to find any Sammy backing tracks with vocals, so this was a treat. Did my best replicate Ed's tone on 5150, and the weird Strat tone he used on this.

    Jamie's Cryin'
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: VH Circles Replica
Notes: Not much of a fan of this song, but it was there so I did it. Backing track is pretty awful, I think the drum track is not even real drums. Had fun harmonizing the lead parts.

    Panama
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: VH Rasta Replica
Notes: Not 100% happy with the final mix, but leaving it for now. Not much else to say on this one. I'm not a huge "Panama" fan (burned out on it), but it has to be done if you're going to cover VH.

    Mean Street
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: VH Circles Replica
Notes: I cannot play the slap intro at all, I don't even try anymore. It's my Achilles Heel. So that is not on here. Not much to say on this except I didn't fade the end out like the real version.

    Feel Your Love Tonight
    AUDIO LINK

Guitars Used: Charvel Shell Pink So-Cal
Notes: The audio version is a little different than the video version, as again I remixed the audio recently, and I did correct one little mistake I made on the video I didn't like.

    When It's Love
    AUDIO LINK
Guitars Used: Kramer 5150 Replica (Intro, Rhythm, Bridge Leads) - VH Sharkocaster Tribute (Main Solo)
Notes: Again not a lot of Sammy stuff to choose from, so I did this one. It's kind of like a combo of the studio version meets the way Ed played it live around the FUCK era. I just kind of did it my own way. Not enough guitar on the album version IMO.

    Women In Love
    AUDIO LINK
Guitars Used: Charvel Shell Pink So-Cal (Intro, Single Coil Mode) - VH Bumblebee Replica (Everything Else)
Notes: Not a ton to say on this one. The intro is obviously much harder than the rest of the song. My first time ever recording this intro, so it took me several takes to get it sounding good.

    Little Dreamer
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: VH Rasta Replica
Notes: Pretty easy song, fun to play. I see a lot of people play the main riff wrong. To get it to sound right, you really need to play the low E and mute the A during the main riff. Many people don't do that, and it doesn't sound full enough. Ed does this same idea on "Light Up The Sky."

    Jump
    AUDIO LINK
    Guitars Used: Kramer 5150 Replica
Notes: Just another song you have to do if you're a VH fan. The solo is a little tricky for me, I'm not 100% thrilled with it, but it's the best I can play it. Rest of the guitar parts are simple of course.

    Poundcake
    AUDIO LINK
Guitars Used: Pink EVH Music Man
Notes: Another rare Sam tune to do, and I actually love this song. I know many don't. Yes I used a drill, but it's not a Makita, it's a Black And Decker. So yes it sounds different. I'm not going out and getting a Makita drill, sorry. I also did a Wet/Dry/Wet thing with my amp modeler on a song for the first time, and I think I may still tweak it it some. Overall I'm happy with it.

    You Really Got Me
    AUDIO LINK

Guitars Used: VH Sharkocaster Tribute (Audio) - Sawtooth Les Paul Replica (Video)
Notes: I usually use my Shark guitar in standard tuning only, but since it has the correct pickup for what Ed would have used in his Destroyer, I tuned it down and used it on this. The audio version is COMPLETELY different than the video version. I redid the song a few weeks ago, and the audio version is 100x better. I'm actually playing the solo and outro correctly on it. I did the video a long time ago actually, I just didn't put it up for a long time.

And that's everything I got for now. Hope you guys enjoyed listening to them!

Good lord! You totally killed the DDL's outro! " I did my best"... shut the fuck up.

    The sound is equally impressive.

HAHA I appreciate it dude. I did work hard on that one, and tried to get the tone closer to the real thing. They had some weird shit going on there.

It does get crazy. It's like a symphony the way he puts all those guitar parts together.

Mission accomplished. Some of your best work.

Are these all karaoke-version custom accompaniment tracks?

Don't remember this many VH songs, but I haven't been on there is a while.

Yes they went crazy making them after he passed away it was actually pretty cool. They must’ve added 10 of them within a month of him passing. Kind of felt like a kid in a candy store. And they were picking good songs too.

There’s still a few more I want to do. I want to try to pull off Summer Nights but I don’t know that I can. Hang ‘Em High is on there I might try that too.

Holy shit, they have 38 VH custom accompaniment songs on there now!

I think there used to be less than 10 not that long ago.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I told you man they were putting one up like every day right after Ed passed. And they were good songs too. That’s why I started doing so many of them.

There’s still three or four I’m going to get to but I’ve done some videos lately and I’m trying to work through some of those first. But there’s still good stuff on there I want to cover.
