Alec Baldwin's wife Hillaria's fake heritage and continued lying
Hilaria Baldwin's Spanish cosplay
Up until the last week, Hilaria Baldwin — the wife of actor Alec Baldwin and mother to five of his children — was arguably one of the most famous Spaniards in Hollywood. That is, she was one of the most famous Spaniards in Hollywood until a still-anonymous Twitter user admired “her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person."
Outed as a fake Spaniard, she is now known to the world as plain Hillary Baldwin née Hayward-Thomas from Boston - just a girl "living life.".
Except that that life was built in part on appropriating the persona of a white, Spanish-speaking immigrant with an accent.
After first denying the anonymous allegations, Baldwin, 36, was eventually forced to admit that she is not even half-Spanish (both her parents are U.S.-born), that she was not born in Mallorca, Spain, and that her real name is Hillary. She now insists that she was being “misrepresented” by the media she so assiduously courted after first marrying into Hollywood royalty and then shilling her yoga and wellness business — during which she inundated social media with lingerie-clad selfies with babies in an expensive Manhattan apartment and appearances on television in mutating Spanish accents.
“There is not something I’m doing wrong," she told The New York Times. "I think there is a difference between hiding and creating a boundary.”
Alec Baldwin defended his wife in a video in which he says we should consider the source of the allegations (rather than, one presumes, the truth of them). But he had been part of his wife’s act, both pushing her Spanish roots and even making fun of her accent on "The Late Show with David Letterman" in 2013. “My wife is from Spain, you know,” he told Letterman as he imitated her supposedly poor English when discussing pregnancy: “I have to pee every five minutes! I can’t believe it!”

I have been seeing this all over the news and I have to say, I've seen her on many TV shows and NEVER thought she was speaking in a Spanish accent. I was shocked when the controversy came up about appropriation because I never saw her as pretending to be Spanish.
I mean she has only been in the public eye during a period of time when the internet was out there hounding everyone for every mis step so you would think she would know that she couldn't get away with it.
One of the things that she was being raked over the coals for was saying that she moved to New York to go to college. But that is exactly what she did...she moved from Boston to New York
Her entire family lives in Spain She has said that she speaks only Spanish to her children all day in order to raise them fully bilingual which is a good thing and she says that is how she was raised by her parents. I would understand that her speech would take on a certain rhythm if all she was speaking was spanish and then switched over. I know people who go home for Christmas and come back with thick Southern accents
But some of is is just laying a ground work and letting every one assume. I mean Hola! Magazine? She can't say that she didn't know that Hola! is a Latina magazine or what it would mean to be featured in it. And she incorporated all kinds of Spanish stuff into her wedding ceremony saying that she wanted to include "her culture" And then they gave all their kids Spanish names.
Most of what she did tho is lay it on thick, let people make assumptions and never correct those assumptions. What a stupid thing to do. Once everyone started talking about cultural appropriation, she should have started making corrections and talking up her Boston background in order to limit the damage
The other thing about this is that the person who started the whole social media outrage admitted that she did it because she was bored. Yes BORED. She decided a pleasant diversion would be to submarine someone's life just to have something to do. That's nuts too.

Lol, the whole thing is idiotic. However, one thing that never changes is Alec Baldwin will always be a douchebag.
