Default Ed's ashes to be scattered off Malibu coast

Feels weird to be posting this but this is according to TMZ.

    https://www.tmz.com/2020/12/13/eddie...ttered-malibu/

TMZ also saying Ed died of a stroke.... Death Certificate is on their website.... Kind of discussing that they have access to that.

If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

I wish this kind of stuff was not public or posted. Let the man rest in peace with his privacy, and don’t give TMZ the ad revenue.

Not to be a downer but why is that rich people always are granted their ashes to be scattered at sea or wherever their wish was? Can anyone just have their ashes scattered wherever they want? I thought there were laws about it?

TMZ can burn to the ground. Fuck sites like that.

Agree with Jedi, this kind of shit doesn't need to be posted by sites like that.

You would think that California would have a law against scattering ashes but apparently they are pretty lenient as long as you follow protocol. Three miles out to sea to scatter ashes...

All of this is already in the Passed Away thread, FYI. And it's actually TMZ's job to post stuff like that, whether we agree with it or not.

I had my mothers ashes scattered in a ceremony outside Newport Beach Harbor in the late-90's after she died. I think we were barely a mile off the coast from The Wedge. My mother spent her last couple years living in Utica, NY with my sister where she developed Lung Cancer (she smoked like a chimney since she was a teenager) which spread to her brain before it was diagnosed. They gave her six months after a really horrible brain surgery and she died 6 months later almost to the day. My sister had her remains cremated and she actually somehow was able to fly with the urn in her carry-on suitcase back to California for the ceremony.

The whole thing with cremation, renting the service and boat, permits and fees cost maybe $4,500. It was a really nice memorial, the boat (in our case) which held maybe 20 people takes your party out to the spot in the ocean, you do whatever kind of ceremony that for us included tossing some flowers out along with the ashes. Obviously, dumping a coffin with a body inside is a no-no, it's all organic and meant to disperse in the ocean quickly. You can't say, throw photos, jewelry and guitars overboard along with the ashes and maybe flowers. No viking funerals.

When I kick the bucket, I hope my wife does the same thing with my remains.

    Such a fucking copout statement...

Well, you’ve certainly done a hell of a job curbing the media’s transgressions, I’m sure.

Keep up the good work, Jagoff.

It’s legal to scatter ashes in California. I believe there are boating services that do it and the law is it has to be 3 nautical miles from shore.

As far as TMZ, I don’t blame them as much as the people who take their money to release medical information about people or private documents.

My question is the "Sources" that know what Wolf will do. Did one of his friends or inner circle sell out? Wolf has kept things iron clad shut and I would imagine only immediate family would know where Ed is going. How did TMZ find out?

I am glad though that I know where my hero is going. I hate when someone you really admire, love or look up to dies and then they just vanish. The family says nothing and the deceased is just POOF! Not to step on the Van Halen family toes, but I am glad I have closure. I understand the privacy and keep things quiet, but I think the fans should know something.

June. 1984. Kemper Arena. Kansas City, Mo. My very first concert. The lights go out. The spotlights rotate over the crowd while a wailing guitar overtakes the screams and cheers. The opening riff of "Unchained" begins as a lone spotlight illuminates Eddie Van Halen. By himself. I was never the same after that.

Yes you can have anything done with your ashes. Has absolutely nothing to do with wealth. My friend’s dad wanted his ashes scattered out in the ocean. That’s what they did. There aren’t any laws that I know of. My wife’s grandparents were not rich at all and they wanted their ashes scattered at sea, but the family just hasn’t done it yet...but soon. Frankly I think it’s weird that it’s been several years that my mother-in-law has had their ashes, but not my place to say anything.
