He is a dick. I thought that he still had a chance to get in, despite his ridiculous tweets. I just read that he, himself, doesn't think he belongs in the HOF. lol He'd rather wait to possibly get in with a veterans committee vote, like Harold Baines did. But Baines (who shouldn't be in the HOF, IMO) is a quiet man who surely didn't burn as many bridges as Schilling probably has.

Hey Mike, I see the Jays added Marcus Semien to a 1 year deal ($18M). I was waiting to see who picked him up. I doubt he'll be playing SS though (Bichette). Another good pick up for Toronto. They have a great lineup. That starting pitching, though, could use an upgrade.

He'll play second. Move biggio to 3rd. They wanted a 3b in a perfect world but Biggio can handle the spot or Vlad if a defensive miracke happens.

He would have likely got in next year.

To me that shit doesn't matter though. He was a HOF player, whether he gets in or not.

Same with Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, etc.

It's like saying Iron Maiden isn't a Rock HOF band. They are, they just aren't in it.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I agree. That's why I said I thought he'd get in. I will say that he isn't a "gimme" for the HOF, however. Arguments could be made either way, IMO. For me, his postseason stats push him over into the Hall.

Bonds, Clemens and McGwire is another issue (PEDs). Especially for the likes of McGwire and Sosa. It's unfortunate for Bonds and Clemens, they were unquestionably HOF caliber without the added "help."

So glad Ken Griffey Jr. didn't go that route.

I was listening to the local radio show here in St. Louis and the host is a HOF voter. He said every one of those guys should be in because neither baseball nor the Hall of Fame has given the voters any guidance on who or shouldn't be considered and why. His position was "if they're too chicken to plant their flag and tell us who to exclude, why should I be the morality police and the bad guy?" I thought it was a fair point.

That being said, I don't want Clemens, Bonds, McGwire, or Sosa in the hall, and that's coming from someone who had a giant poster of Mark McGwire on his wall as a kid. Yeah he admitted it and apologized which is more than the other three did, but he knew it was wrong then and reaped the rewards. Now he gets to pay the consequences, for what little they are.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

That is a fair point. And I don't think he's wrong. It seems many of the voters from the BBWAA have drawn their own guidelines and are sticking with them, which I also think is fair. Clemens and Bonds had their numbers tick up in recent years, so some of the voters are changing their minds. Both are only eligible one more time.

    I'll argue it wasn't wrong.

Why? Because baseball tacitly endorsed it. They didn't test for it, they knew it was going on, and they didn't care because the home runs and the home run chases were driving up ratings and making them money.

It's like saying the speed limit is 55MPH, but yeah, if you go 130MPH it's ok, we aren't enforcing it.
