14 years is a LONG time for a contract. They way they are loading up, they want to make a run now. That NL West race is going to be a good one.

The great thing about that contract is that if it doesn't work out, that GM will be working with a different organization while it's still San Diego's problem

I'd like to think they all want to win (I'm naÔve), they just don't all agree on how much it should cost to do so

The Cards and Marlins played to a 0-0 tie in 7 innings yesterday. Tickets for the game were going on the secondary market for almost $300. Can you imagine paying that amount of money to watch the sporting equivalent of paint drying?

I can't imagine paying $300 to watch a spring training game consisting mostly of guys who'll be in the minors in 4 weeks.

My friends and I go every year to Arizona for spring training but the last two years we havenít gone obviously. I really miss it itís a lot of fun. But that is absolutely ridiculous for tickets.

yeah, I haven't gone to a spring training game in a while. Ridiculous they are getting up to regular season prices (out of the box office) for an exhibition. Money. Was reading an article this morning that mentioned Bob Lurie buying the Giants in the '70s for 8 million. Had to read it a couple of times - 8 million! That'll get you a mediocre player for 1 year these days...

    Money...

I think there's just a pent up demand of people that have so desperately wanted to watch a baseball game in person that they are willing to overpay for the experience. A lot of people will travel down there and make an experience out of it, so I can see why it gets that expensive, but I still think it's silly.

On the bright side, Opening Day in St. Louis is going to allow for 32% capacity, so we'll actually have fans in the stands. That will make watching baseball games much more enjoyable.

Agreed. And a Yankees' championship will be a great capper to the season!

Ah yes, now I remember why I don't like you....

If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

LOL...come on, hating the Yankees and their fans is so 1999.

But I get it. If I wasn't a fan, I'd hate them too. Fear not, I'm probably more critical of them than the haters.

Just hoping for a good, entertaining and FULL season.
