    Question Best clip on tuner for Wolfgang headstock?

    I picked up a D'addario micro clip on tuner and while the features were great and the screen was incredible, the thing would just hang there and not really detect string pitch--especially on the dropped D/C#, then sometimes just go away, I re-pluck, etc. It seemed like witchcraft at times. I changed the battery and no joy so I returned it.

    Wondering which clip on tuners you guys use on that Wolf headstock? The placement of the tuners and lack of wood on the headstock make it a bit of a challenge so I'm interested in what you're using. Bonus points if it can be used for intonation on the Floyd as well -- otherwise I'l just use my corded tuner (korg pandora) for bench work.

    If you see my sticky thread on Van Halen tunings you won’t be surprised that I will wholeheartedly recommend the Peterson StroboClip HD!

    @Peterson StroboClip HD;

    I've seen those tuning posts. Very deep dive, my man! I'm not sure I want to go that pricey at this juncture -- just something that can pick up the vibrations fast and is relatively accurate. I have a heavy hand so I usually like to check often.

    I think if I'm going to get a strobe I would get a shelf unit peterson. The gold standard.

    I was going to get one of those but they seem to have about 20 different versions these days. Did they change the firmware or is one more accurate than another?

    To close the loop, I ended up getting the Snark gold MHz. You can do exact tunings by freq, and it wasn't that expensive. Way better than the D'Addario

    no idea. I don't really get into that stuff. I just clip it on and tune it. Very easy to use and spot on in my opinion.

    The thing about the Peterson is that it takes opinion out of it. The Peterson tuners are the most accurate...that’s not my opinion, it’s a fact! It’s not even a question!
