Not a complaint in the slightest, because Mike's a scary stellar player.

I'm not big on Hendrix stuff... heard it all a hundred times and it just bores me. Same with the Great SRV, but I never feel the need to ever break out his albums after lstening to his tunes for thirty years... they all just sound the same anymore... that's just me though.

The intro is very cool but might have served a different tune much better since it just seems tacked on here.

I shouldn't have used the term "cash grab" since I have always kind of despised it. Maybe a "timing opportunity" is more efficient for the release of the track.

There is one Hendrix related tape I have from the 90's called If 60's were 90's, where a group that I can't recall the name did remixes of Jimmy tunes and made them more danceable. Need to dig that out and give it a listen... see if it held up after all this time.

Hendrix is one of those guys, I feel, where people either get him or they don’t. Not too many are just undecided on Jimi.

I don’t necessarily understand it fully because I personally think the man was brilliant, but it seems like that’s how the split is.

It’s all subjective. People think Devin Townsend and Les Claypool are brilliant and while I appreciate their talent, I don’t get the genius brilliance when I listenin to them.

They’re not Jimi, obviously but you catch my drift.

When it comes to SRV. He is just as close to a God we’ve seen on the guitar on this planet. He was a direct conduit for a higher power. His fingers had a direct line to “something” else.

    My opinion.

I'd put SRV above Hendrix. I never saw him live but I had musician friends who did and they where in awe.

I agree about SRV and my buddy loves the guy so he actually gets a spin around here every now and then... but just to my ears every song reminds me of the Howard Stern opening song from his terrestrial radio days. Don't know if he still uses that song anymore... but every song by him sounds like that. I'm a terrible person.

I have a buddy who digs SRV too and I indulge him, but I just don't care to listen to him. I acknowledge that he was great but he just doesn't move the needle for me. I can vibe with Hendrix, sometimes, but I don't listen to him a lot either. Outside of Ed, I really dig John Mayer's playing, these days.

No need to dig out an old cassette tape with youtube, plus I can stream the whole album on Amazon Unlimited.

I saw SRV open for Bonnie Raitt at the Greek Theatre in L.A. in the summer of 1986 and he was definitely "all that" ...
