I just listened to James’s post with Gilbert....Wow, very cool...And I would love to hear the two tracks of the, i would guess, nearly last Hagar tracks ever recorded. Listening to Dweezil makes me wish he could have done with Van Halen exactly what he proposed to Gilbert...That is produce an album with Van Halen. I’ve suggested it before on this site and I stand by it....Dweezil I think would have been a great producer for a Van Halen project...Sadly, it’s no longer an option.

Podcast is pretty cool, from what i hear. It's not just some guy talking. It's not like Eddie Trunk. Seems his guest prepare little musical tidbits before they come on the show. If I ever run into some money (yeah right), I'll consider it.

Alright I jumped into that Paul Gilbert video ready to hate but he’s literally dissecting DLR vocal lines and murdering the vibrato and bends. DLR and EVH were one in the same almost with that phrasing, holy shit like peanut butter and jelly. I might pay for this, it never even occurred to me to figure out lead vocal parts on guitar that’s genius.

That Paul Gilbert thing just wasn’t for me. I don’t see any reason to pay for that. But again to each their own.

I think the pod cast has value. Just think it should the vast majority should go to the charities and the rest cover production costs. In other words nobody should make a cent. Jason Becker shared a very personal video yesterday which to be honest, he could have offered via live stream or something. Could have made money off it to some degree and lets be honest, I am sure he needs every cent. However he didn't. He shared a private moment that made got this 51 year old man a bit misty. That's how it should be with Eddie and his legacy. Celebrate it with everyone.

I like what I have heard in these clips so far.

But Dweezil has told a few of these stories before...

from 2013. About Ed calling the house and coming over.

That's why these podcasts are super cool. Hearing the little tidbits and observations other great players point out that to someone like me, a non musician, would never know. Like the drop D mention from Dirty Movies. And the fact that even Nuno refers to "Mean Street" as "Mean Streets"..lol.

But seriously, the drop D mention from Dirty Movies was something I never knew.

Plus, Dweezil is super funny and is very entertaining. Like introducing Nuno as perhaps the "greatest Portuguese guitarist"....
"People say Cream gave birth to Heavy Metal," says Baker. "If that's so, we should have had an abortion."

For anybody on here curious about this podcast,
I ended up buying the whole bundle for $51.50.
I'm enjoying it, and I'm not new to Ed stories and the minutia.
No regrets in buying it at all.

I want to hear the one with Shanks. Nobody is going to interrupt him in this interview when he starts talking about how Ed recorded guitars & what he used on ADKOT, like that other interview he did years ago. There is more mystery behind that record than any other because its the youngest; I'm sure there's still all sorts of fascinating info behind it; including the drama.

I had an audible reaction when Shanks was detailing Ed's recording setup and was interrupted for some pedestrian question about his favorite songs in the VH catalog (or something like that). Man that drove me nuts. Hopefully he and Dweezil get into those guitar nerd details in their episode.

Yeah, i'm of the same mind, though i get what Dweezil is trying to do.

If you listen to the Sunset Sound interviews, he heavily promotes this new thing artists are doing,
where you pay a subscription, and have direct contact with the artist and their music, merch, etc.

No one was paying for music, and now the musicians haven't been able to tour since Covid, so
they are all, really struggling and looking for new ways for income.

But i'm not sure a lot of people are gonna fork over the cash.

There's just so much free content online (youtube, etc.), we are all spoiled.

If this was the 80's, i'd have been like:
I NEED TO HEAR THIS PODCAST TO LEARN EDDIE'S SECRETS!
Graver, Walking Ed, refugee from CVH & proud tone chaser...
