    https://www.dweezilzappa.com/pages/c...th-the-dweezil

A podcast for all Van Halen Fans!

Runnin’ with the Dweezil - Featuring Guitar Greats Reflecting on Edward Van Halen’s Unparalleled Legacy
(Runnin' With The Dweezil does not claim to be endorsed by Van Halen)

From Van Halen’s infamous backyard concerts to their electrifying 1978 debut and on through the present day, Runnin’ with the Dweezil will cover it all.

“Our goal is to provide an entertaining in-depth look at each Van Halen album seen through the eyes of top guitarists. A song-by-song discovery of the nuances in the music that literally changed people’s lives” says, Zappa.

"Production of the episodes began in the summer of 2020 and I was really hoping to share the stories from our guests with Edward,” Zappa says.

"Then as now, there continues to be an outpouring of gratitude for all of Edward's contributions to music. It would have been a dream to record an episode with him that would explore his own personal musical journey. His sudden loss has inspired an even deeper connection to his music for me and so many others. We want to honor and celebrate him and that's why we're committing such an enormous amount of time and effort to make this podcast unlike any other.”

The Foundation keeps music alive in our schools by donating musical instruments to under-funded music programs, and providing vital services to school districts nationwide, giving economically-disadvantaged youth access to the many benefits of music education, leading them to success in school, and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music. Over 24 years, more than 33,000 instruments have been donated to 1,579 schools across the country. Visit https://www.mhopus.org for more information.

Runnin' With Dweezil is proud to donate 5% of the proceeds directly to Feeding America®, which is the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States. Through a network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, we provide meals to more than 40 million people each year. Feeding America also supports programs that prevent food waste and improve food security among the people we serve; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry. I like Dweezil and I understand 5% is going to Mr. Holland's Opus and Feeding America but I have to say this rubs me the wrong way, and I know people here will probably give me shit for my opinion.

Donate all of it if you're going to charge for this. Portions of which have been discussed by some of these artists in other interviews on YouTube for years. I've heard Dweezil, Vai , Nuno, Gilbert, and Satch discuss VH plenty of times. I've watched a ton of videos dissecting the brown sound as well.

Honestly- I just clicked the VHND story & gotta say I'm shocked....

I'm not one to comment impulsivley without knowing for sure what the score is....but Jesus....I'll go ahead & comment anyways Good God look at what's listed I can't see anything even remotely enticing & wtf is up with the timing hard to view this as anything other than a pathetic cash grab. Coming from Dweezil who we know Ed produced his first single is just a hige surprise. But not in the good way.

    Wtf.

Seriously people can’t just do something unless it’s for money? It would be nice to just have a discussion of these albums without having to fucking pay for it. You can go on YouTube and hear lots of smart guys talking about Van Halen for free so whatever. Most famous guitar players have already given their views about VH a billion times anyway, it’s already public knowledge. I mean I’d rather listen to a guy like Rick Beato talk about the music anyway honestly.

Very disappointing that Dweezil is now trying to cash in on Ed’s death too. Pathetic.

Now if ALL (not some piddly 5%) money for the shows was being donated to cancer research or to that Mr. Holland’s Opus that Ed supported for music for children then that’s different. But it’s not, basically all is going in his fucking pocket. Fuck him.

Surprised to see this from Dweezil. He definitely drops a few notches in my book.

And he wanted Ed to do the show. Not sure he would've been cool with this.

Yes I was shocked as well...I love pods (especially the D&D Unchained one which is FREE) so when I saw this come in my feed I was excited but now this? I am at a loss for words frankly......I listen to quite a few podcasts and NONE of them cost a dime.

This is super disappointing. Initial ads for this, and calling it a podcast, were not indicative of a price tag being attached. I could understand monetizing via ads and sponsorships, but this just feels gross.

He’s not really trying to cash in on Ed’s death. Production started Summer 2020 and costs need to be recouped. I also find it hard to believe Dweezil would do anything against Ed’s or the family’s wishes. We’re assuming he is, but we just don’t know.

I’m interested to hear about the quality of the production because for that price, it better be out of this world good. Quality content is relatively cheap to produce these days but maybe these episodes contain extensive behind the scenes footage? Maybe ADKOT recording footage? Not sure how that results in the bottom line cost of the product though.

I’m not willing to shit on Dweezil for this but I don’t see the point in charging money when, like you said Brett, you can go on YT and watch any number of videos about VH that contain great content for die-hard fans.

I wouldn’t be charging for it if I was Dweezil.

    1. The timing isn’t good. 2. This could easily be released for a fraction of the cost.

Make the cost a $5 donation to Holland’s Opus, or something.

Well 5% is going to Mr Hollands Opus
    and 5% to feeding American

But still that is a pretty steep price for a podcast especially these days. Hard to tell what the production cost without actually hearing the thing, but I am sure someone close to the site will subscribe and let us know if it is worth it.
