What becomes of 5150?

I haven’t seen anyone speculate what becomes of 5150 studio?
I know Wolf mentioned on Howard’s interview he has his own
studio. Do you think Wolf will still use 5150 to record? Just use
it as an library or archive? Rent it out as a recording studio?

It’s Wolfgang’s. It will stay in the family. It will stay closed to the public.

Wolf has a smaller home studio, but 5150 is a legit fully functioning studio. Not to mention the primary storage facility or Ed’s greater guitar collection.

Wolf said he recorded a lot of his album at 5150 and the vocals for Distance at his home studio. I would imagine that the home and studio are important to Wolf, as his childhood home and a place where he and his dad spent so much time. I would also imagine that Eddie would want it passed on to his son. But presently it is Eddie's wife's long time home. Like any family, they are going to have a lot to go thru and settle. I hope that Eddie had much better estate planning than Prince did. Prince died intestate which is unimaginably stupid when you have complicated assets like that. But Prince was unmarried and without living children and perhaps he didn't care about materially things. But it does leave that family with a big issue to resolve.

I have a feeling that a lot of estate planning was done when Eddie was sick the first time and married to Valerie and that there was a pre nup update that takes care of Janie. That planning would just need updating periodically.

Californian law is very favorable to the widow. Hopefully Ed figured things out.
It's true that everyone's talking about Wolfie and Al. But in some other cases, for example the Chris Cornell example, the widow takes a leading role with the estate. We shall see. Janie could be owning 50% of the estate.

Wolf told Eddie Trunk that Ed had the opportunity to make his wishes known. So hopefully everything is sorted out however Ed wanted it.

If there are any shenanigans with the will and fighting over money or whatever, I might just catch a ride on the next SpaceX shot off this rock. That would honestly be so incredibly depressing to me. Just look at what went down with Zappa's estate...

Wolf mentioned his "home" studio was basically a few guitars and his computer......I would hope Wolf inherits 5150 and most of Ed's assets and Janie gets life use of the house and enough dough to keep her comfortable the rest of her life.

She seems like a sweet gal and hopefully honors Ed's wishes in whatever arrangement they agreed upon and I assume codified in Ed's will and estate planning. We can only hope for the best.

Regarding Frank Zappa's estate, what a mess Gail Zappa did with things....To see Dweezil, the one child of Frank's keeping his musical legacy alive, lose Frank's studio to Lady Ga Ga, is a travesty in my opinion. All because of mismanagement and too many siblings in the stew so to speak.....

Not that Ga Ga won't take care of it and honor what was created there. It's just sad that Dweezil lost not only the studio, but the use of his name and Frank's likeness....Just sad.

I'm assuming he was smart enough to have had her sign a prenuptial agreement. Key word is..assuming.

5150 would have to stay with Wolf so much history and memories for Wolf growing up there is no way it would be sold off.
Plus Wolf did say he and Al would eventually go through the old tapes at 5150 in years to come..

I would also think Matt Bruck might be involved in keeping things running at 5150...
