"This band is three quarters original, one quarter inevitable" -David Lee Roth~2007

"“We had a lot of fun on the tour – Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we’re going to have some new stuff, too. I’m looking forward to getting on it. I’ve got tons of music written, such a variety of stuff… Actually, next week or the week after, Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we’ll give Dave a call and see what he’s up to.” - Edward Van Halen ~ 2009

I'm always curious who ends up scooping these types of high finance Rock Memorbilia....very rare the buyers are known....

Adam Sandler....could buy it if he wanted....

But then again....so could Dave Grohl....

    Or Drew Carrey....

Hell- Carrottop might scopp it up.

Joking aside this is undoubtabley an amazing spectacular item of rock history worth every penny.

    Penny, Penny, Penny...

How does it become someone elses property to sell in the first place....I'm guessing Alex sold or donated it away.

I'd buy it myself but just dont have the room for it. John Bonhams 1975 kit takes up a full room not to mention the Keith Moon drumsets hardly any room left for Cozy Powell's 1978 kit.

One of the few things I looked forward to seeing at the RRHOF is now gone :-(

Probably needed to clear out space for a dump that Bruce Springsteen took while singing Born in the USA

LOVE that kit. I always called it the spaceship kit. It always looked like a space shuttle turned into a drum kit to me.

This is super cool but I have a hard time believing that it will get close to this amount. That is a crap ton of money and it takes up a crazy amount of space. I would like to be wrong on this but it would certainly need a buyer that had an awful lot of money to throw around.

It's such a cool kit, so seldom seen, which probably makes it more attractive.

Personally, I prefer the Fair Warning tour kit. Had the perfect sound. But the Invasion kit is definitely more unique.

FW kit is also my all time favorite kit, even with the outdated hardware(i.e. no rack system for all that gear!). But I'd say it's also pretty unique, in that it is actually a Vistalite kit that Al had painted black and white.

I knew a guy who worked as an upper manager for Social Security Administration and had about a million bucks in vintage guitars. He killed himself in 2005 or so and his brother told me among his collection he had an original fender teardrop white and late 50s tele in mint condition. He was also at one time one of the best local shredders in the Baltimore night club circuit. Big booze and drug abuser too.
