Default Two things I haven't seen discussed yet...

    1. There briefly was a keyboard player in early VH per EVHs first interview?
    2. No one talks about Star Fleet project.

I was curious about which were the songs Steve Lukather " sold " to DLR in 86 or so, as alluded to in the Steve Rosen interview.

Am I the only one who wondered. What songs were they exactly.

Couldnt of been Tobacco Road, I'm Easy, or Thats Life. Or Shyboy being a Tals tune peeviously. So must of been some of the 7 others.

    Big Trouble ?

What were the three songs recorded in 2000? Rumoured to be Sheís The Woman and You And Your Blues.

I'd say its very unlikely to be STW. At the time, it was stated that they wrote "3 astonishing tunes". STW has been around since '76

My uneducated guess would be You & Your Blues, Honeybabysweetiedoll & China Town.

So judging by the lack of substantive replies to my post, I guess you're just being a 1992 Psycho Fan smart ass?

I've been a VH fan since '79 -- and there was no internets or such things. I never saw anything at all about a keyboard player until I read it in some old interview archived here. Thanks for filling in the gaps, I guess?

Still no talk of Star Fleet in all this either. Phil Chen, where are you?

The only time I remember there being talk about the keyboard player that was in the early days of VH was when Renoff's book came out. I had never heard about it before that. Given that the guy didn't really contribute to what we as fans eventually heard, I think that's the reason he never gets mentioned as opposed to say, Mark Stone who may have jammed some of those early tracks before Mike.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I was going to throw As Is in as a guess as well.

I know EVH had been dicking around with As Is intro as far back as '03 (the infamous NAMM video). Wouldn't surprise me if it went back farther than that.

Luzier said "Tattoo" and STW were 2 of them. I find that hard to believe, but that's what he said. HBSD's gotta be one of them. The next year "Flex" and "Scarecrow" came out, which both sound like it: the riff from "Flex" (even though it's a cover) and the chorus of HBALFS.

Which Rosen interview was that? Anyways my guess is "Ladies Nite." So much different than anything he's ever done. Then again I could obviously see Vai writing that, so who knows.

Ha, no, not being a smart-ass so not sure what you mean.

There seriously has been very little talk of him since he was "discovered" by Greg Renoff in the VH Rising book a few years ago. I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk or questions.

I get it. I'm just really continually surprised by all the new info and photos coming out now. It's like going down into your attic to unearth stuff you knew was there, but never really investigated.

My main thing that I just can't reconcile is how Mike was treated by the VH bros. DLR I understand, but then again I'm just going off the one Monk book I read. I think it's too soon to talk about what Wolf and his Dad could and SHOULD have done WRT Mike, but I'll leave that discussion for a later date. I don't know why it grinds my gears so much.

My bad, bro. Sarcasm is impossible to detect online without the /s.

But then no one is talking about Star Fleet either? I listened to that in like 7th grade and if I recall EVH was wearing a paperboy hat on the back of the LP and using the rude boy.

    No worries!

Do you have that book? That's probably the most info on him out there. Might even be the only.
