From a business perspective, i really wish he had the album out simultaneously with "Distance."
    Or maybe a week later.

With the ADD generation, by Spring, i'm afraid people who like this, will be onto the next thing.

Iím surprised Distance wonít be on the debut album. The songís success would help lead to greater interest in the album.

Iím sure thereís a good reason why the album release isnít until next year sometime.

When did he say it wouldn't be on it? He said he had planned on using it on a later album, but after Ed passed he changed his mind. He said it's an outlier on the album, as the rest of the album is heavier.

Wolf gave an interview about a week ago on a radio station. Go to the 6:30 mark: Wolf said Distance was a stand-alone track as a tribute to Eddie:

No doubt, it's a moving tribute.
Even with the monotone vocal delivery.

    Hereís what impressed me:

Yesterday one of my aunts cooked a whole bunch of m small turkeys and had our various family groups drive by to pick them up. Socially distanced Thanksgiving pickup.

As I grabbed my turkey two of my aunts, an uncle and my Mom all said they saw the Distance video and that they loved it. I didnít send or discuss with any of them beforehand and none of them (except my Mom) know much about Van Halen. The video made my aunt realized my striped guitars are Eddie tributes.

This song has had an impressive amount of reach and carrying power.

Musicianship wise, nothing except Wolfís vocals kind of surprised me.

I went into it figuring I was going to be impressed.

The kid proved he was a stellar bass player and from his IG snips he showed he could hit the skins.

And I figured heíd have a good voice based off the backing vocals we got on the VH tours but I wasnít prepared for the style, cadence and just his flat out range.

Pops was right. The kidís fuckiní dangerous.

The voice, simply because I didn't expect as much "edge." The two songs I've heard are good, and the musicianship is good. Nothing really stood out for me that much. I'm curious to hear the rest of the album. So far I haven't heard anything that sets it apart. There's no distinct personality. Maybe the album as a whole will show something that sets it and Wolfgang apart from the ocean of artists who make the same style of music. Then again, he may not have even figured out who he is yet.

Not a fan of the mix and production of the two songs, but I'll wait for better quality recordings before I worry too much about that.

The success of "Distance" should be eyed with caution. A huge part of it's success is due to the subject matter and that video. It has more to do with Eddie than Wolfgang or the music. I'm sure Wolfgang knows this, and that's why he wants to keep it separate from his other stuff.
