My first show was October 22, 1980 in Lexington, Kentucky. My older brother wouldn't let me tag along so my Uncle took me to the show. Would love to show off that ticket, but, unfortunately, all my VH ticket stubs were stolen in 2015 along with my first Peavey Wolfgang Special. A very frustrating day.

Thumbs up Van Halen "Fair Warning Tour" July 31st, 1981. Buffalo, NY

My first Van Halen concert was the "Fair Warning Tour" in the Summer of 1981, was also known as the "W.D.F.A. Tour. I remember when "Fair Warning" was released in April of 1981, bought it on cassette played it non-stop on my ghetto-blaster while shooting baskets of all things. Lol. I wore out that tape in no time! Found out about the concert coming to Buffalo, NY thanks to 97Rock in Buffalo that were the go-to station for all rock music and concerts, nobody did it better! What a summer it was and a nice memory of Van Halen before starting High School that September. Always in my heart!

"This band is three quarters original, one quarter inevitable" -David Lee Roth~2007

"“We had a lot of fun on the tour – Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we’re going to have some new stuff, too. I’m looking forward to getting on it. I’ve got tons of music written, such a variety of stuff… Actually, next week or the week after, Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we’ll give Dave a call and see what he’s up to.” - Edward Van Halen ~ 2009

Far from my first VH show but this is one of the few remaining ticket stubs I have from the original Roth era shows I caught. A 4th row seat to the LA Forum for the 1984 tour. The 1984 tour was an insanely tough ticket for the only 2 LA dates and I bought my pair of 4th row seats from a ticket broker for something like $200 a seat.

Back in the early 80's, I used to keep my favorite ticket stubs in my wallet which included most of the VH shows I saw between 1978-1982 and included guitar picks from both Eddie and Mike caught during the two Fair Warning shows I saw in '81. On Christmas night '86, I had a home invasion robbery where the thief took my wallet and Christmas presents. Months later when I was moving out of that condo, I was up on the roof removing the TV antenna and discovered my wallet had been thrown up there, completely cleaned out. Fucker even took my ticket stubs. The only reason I had this 1984 stub was because I kept both stubs from that show and one was in my wallet and this was wasn't.

Don't have the stub but it was December 13th, 1991. Day after my 21st birthday, had my first legal drink at the concert.

    Thumbs up

Opening act: After The Fire "alles klar der kommissar" Was very strange but all I remember about them is that they seemed to be playing with bedroom practice amps versus the MIGHTY Van Halen system. I also recall some of the "tweeters" above the stage show actually being a painted cyclorama.

Saw a t-shirt bootlegger get busted in the parking lot and a cop gave me a shirt that fell out of the bootlegger's jacket. -- perhaps this was one of Noel Monk's adventures? I dunno.

Also, they smashed DLR with some cake and champagne and and played happy birthday -- everyone sang along.

Life was never the same after that show. My one and only true VAN HALEN show. I saw van hagar at monsters of rock in buffalo. '88.
