And then four years later a Democrat will reverse everything the Republican does, and so on and so on. It's time to reassess whether we need to jam these two diametrically opposed pieces together. It just doesn't work anymore.

Then the solution starting now with Biden, since he's this return to "normalcy", is to unite. Dems are always bloviating about uniting. That means compromise. I'm not holding my breath for that.

Taking a macro view of this, and without any hyperbole. This is as politically divided this nation has been since 1860. Ignoring that fact, or kicking the can down the road for the next-guy isnít a wise plan.

LOL! I read that as bloviating about urinating.

I'm sure the old coot could go on about that forever also.

Historically, we have always been a divided people who have clung together for mutual benefit. I think most of our leaders have understood this, which is why most have sought to bridge the divide by using language and exhibiting behavior that appeals to what Lincoln called "the better angels of our nature". The outgoing president is the only one in our nation's history to purposely exacerbate those differences for his own benefit and it has nearly brought our experiment to ruin once again--it may yet. I honestly think it's time to acknowledge that our differences will never be resolved and that the two cultures may no longer be able to coexist for mutual benefit.

Divided, but bought in. That continued buy-in is what concerns me.

Donít think the Dems/Libs havenít fanned those same flames...there is blood on both sides of the aisle, there is no innocent among any of them.

Blinkin is such a great hire..

    Destabilize then import.

Its back! The America that existed under Bush and Obama is back!

    Hell yeah!

The media will be happy to watch all the beautiful bombing.

Look at the eyes on that Blinkin dude.

    There is no soul there.

TDS is so strong that it can turn anti war people into pro war people...

Oh wait..., They threw their anti war stance away when Obama made his move in Syria.

    That was along time ago.

The media isnt going to go in hard on the left now. They havenít since then.

Not in any meaningful or consistent way.

Occasionally they will do something in attempt to establish plausible deniability, but it isnít convincing.

    Default THE BIDEN PRESIDENCY

Thing is, a new President shouldnít fucking matter so much. This is the problem with the bipartisan increase in executive power of the last 20 years.

And it isnít just that office. The executive got more leverage as the Speaker dominated the House in a post-Gingrich world. But itís really ramped up under Pelosi, Ryan, and Boehner.

There havenít been any amendments offered on the House floor in 4.5 years, and the Speaker took the power to approve all suggestions years before that.

So the members of the House have zero say and all the major bills in this presidency were negotiated by Mnuchin (proxy for Trump), Pelosi, and McConnell. The Speaker fundraises more than anyone and decides where the money goes. So Reps have become sheep of the Speakership and funds for re-election, appointments, are used to make sure you vote with the party position. And it absolves members from any responsibility, so they like it this way.

The executive power has reached highs and the people are no longer represented in the House, meaning the White House need only please the Speaker in any negotiation.

In a sane world, a new President from a different party wouldnít have that much potential to change so many things.

    Not by much though.

Biden is an old school corporate Democrat, which unfortunately also means...interventionist foreign policies. Not sure at what point those got intertwined, and why, but it's definitely a package deal.
