Because it's serving others. That's a pretty noble thing to do and rare today. It gets us out of our me me me mentality. I think that should be rewarded.

OK. Maybe half of college debt

Is it really serving if you're being paid, though?

Military personnel get paid. Are they really serving? That's a rhetorical question.

They get paid shit and sometimes not at all or not on time. Ask their spouses.

    They're serving.

Sadly, our military is often used to serve the governments and even other countries interests more than the interests of America in of itself.

    In my opinion.

That's not me being critical of the average men and women that serve. It's criticism aimed at the decision makers and such that have influence over our foreign policy.

    End of.

Especially when those who enlist are studying a field the military needs. Like medicine or law. They pay for law or med school and afterwards you serve. I believe it’s 18 months of service for each year of support.

Not a bad deal and it beats being a dorm room revolutionary who thinks he’s owed because Fidel said so.

You can get by without a college education. Just that its different than the model that is being presented so its impossible. Some of it requires businesses to change though. Like everything else there is a paradigm that needs to be changed.

For one vast majority of roles in businesses and such do not require one to go to college. You could simply create programs that are vocational in nature with mentoring and coaching for a few years as you move up, grain experience and grow as a professional. How many people can honestly say "well thank God I took that elective in college because it bailed me out with this project." How many of you who graduated from college still post your GPA? Probably 0% if you are above 30. I get that certain jobs require advanced education. Do we need 4 years and 250k of debt for it? Coudn't you get your base classes done in 2 years or even do 1 to get an entry level job at a company, then work your way up the corporate ladder?

I get engineering, health, accounting, etc You need strong fundamentals for that but even with engineering you could again train up.

I work at a Big Tech company. No degree. I know countless people without degrees who are doing engineering work at software. Sure if you want management, etc you likely need that degree but plenty of people I know making 6 figures without any degree. Not just 55 year old people like me. 30 year olds too. I have been working in IT for various companies since 1997 and have yet come across anybody who referenced a class from college. Again you need to know a basics of a language but real world applications require real world experience.

Then we have the whole trade issue which is ignored. Shortage of people who know trades. You can make better money at this than many college educated people with very little debt. Nobody wants to do it because its beneath them. Parents don't want the embarassment of telling the Jones down the street that their son is going to be an electrician or plumber.

Again its great that college is an option but it shouldn't be the only option. Its just that we as a society have built up this model and it cannot be changed. Similar to kids today and traveling leagues for baseball, softball, etc. In the past it was good enough to do city baseball and then go up through high school. Not anymore. Now you have to be like my cousing paying 15k a year on traveling fees for his kids. Can't do it the normal way.

I do know until we change, it has to be the same old same old. Go to college. Rack up 250k in debt. Then get a job with zero prospects because there isn't demand for a liberal arts degree. Complain and wait for the government to bail you out because while intelligent you couldn't figure out that this liberal arts degree had 0 ROI.

    Manufacturing.

Don't be ashamed. It's not glamorous, parents, I know. You can't brag that your kid is in manufacturing. I'm making the most money I've ever made. Money NOW. Not in the future. No degree.

I can't stand folks who constantly brag about their kids who graduated summa cum laude. I mean you can be proud but going around rubbing it in peoples faces at dinner or church etc. I remember a date I had in my 50s with this chick who spent several hours doing exactly that.

The only people who enjoy hearing someone bragging about their kids are the parents who are doing it about their own kids.

We have recently spent billions of dollars supporting Israel, we have their back. I don't like Biden, but I don't even his position, he is trying to walk a tightrope of supporting Israel while not increasing the size of the war, and on top of that trying to keep the fringe element of his party on his side until the election in November.

I would tell the fringe element of my party to go fuck themselves, but that is one of the many reasons I am not President.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Yeah.

We blew drones out of the sky, and so did our allies.

We're not actively seeking WW3. We're trying to prevent it.
