So, I got to vegas last night and went to CVS this morning to grab a couple of things. Sticker shock on prices. Prices are more expensive (in USD no less) than they are back home. Damn.

Sky high prices and plenty of BS. 37 trillion in debt. Legal larceny in Congress keeps it going. Welcome to Vegas . I won't be visiting anymore in my life.

It's a sweet idea, but here's the issue. They own like half the houses. So if they don't pay property taxes, then get ready to double everyone else's. Also, as a demographic, they are in a better financial situation than others.

My only gripe about the issue is this, not everyone needs to go to college. Some not only donít have the aptitude or the self determination to do what you did. I know people who straight up were told that they were going to their parents college. Itís bad enough to have to please your parents by going somewhere you donít want to go but also have your parents relive their college years through you vicariously.

Letís also take into account that not every field needs a degree to be in. Liberal arts comes to mind. No one should be attempting to make a living off of a lesbian carpentry degree. Or something similar. If itís an interest or something, go nuts. But there is a big misconception that you NEED a degree. I know plumbers that make as much as doctors.

The government should be helping people get a leg up regarding education. Not footing the bill.

I never expected any loan forgiveness, and fully intended to pay off the balance of my loan. I learned about the PSLF program before Biden was president, but some of the changes he made to the program made me an eligible candidate for forgiveness. I don't feel bad about it or morally compromised.

I agree 100% with you that not everyone needs to go to college and some degree paths are useless. I am a great advocate of technical and vocational education, as well as apprenticeships.

I agree with the concept of a leg up instead of a free ride for nothing. I am not opposed to requiring every young American to dedicate two years of service to the country in some capacity and they receive some sort of benefit similar to the GI Bill.

I appreciate your stance on these issues.

My wifeís college debt was eventually forgiven because sheís unable to work anymore. I have no remorse about it. And I donít give a fuck what anyone thinks. So there you go.

And I could not work in the field that I do without a degree. Itís an impossibility. In fact, you pretty much need a masterís degree now. But Iím such an old fuck, I have so much work experience now it doesnít matter. But thereís no way I couldíve started my career with anything less than a bachelorís degree.

My daughter already knows she needs to get a masterís degree in the field she wants to work in. So yeah, you still need a college degree for MANY jobs. And thereís a million kids who have them now and canít get jobs.

This idea that you can get by without a college education mightíve worked for our generation, but it doesnít work anymore.

Oh, there are plenty of people who donít think my wifeís situation is understandable. Trust me.

But in general, yes, I do agree that if people can work, they need to work and pay off their student loan. No question. Of course, most of them never will because the cost of going to college now is so ridiculous that nobody unless youíre a fucking millionaire can ever pay it off.

My best friend from college, who went into the Air Force for almost 30 years after we graduated college, had a gigantic school loan because of course we went to a rich kid school. The Air Force paid it off for him. He was lucky. I think he owed somewhere in the neighborhood of $76,000. And that was for college in the early 90s.

    For me, it's simple.

I'm down with loan forgiveness if it's tied to service to country or even service abroad, i.e., the peace corps or whatever it may be called today.

Doing nothing and simply having one's debt erased? No.

Pandering Democratic election year bullshit. We have to fix our social security, not some woke pot smoking entitled douchebags college debt.
