But this time they are nice camps with chainlink fences...

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/huge-step...165414041.html

A migrant facility for children is being opened in Texas, in a first for the new Biden administration.

The emergency facility, which was only open for a month in the summer of 2019 during former President Donald Trump's single term in office, is a former man camp for oil field workers in Carrizo Springs in the southern part of the state, and is set to house as many as 700 teenagers aged 13 to 17.

Emergency facilities have been criticised for their lack of insight, cost, and conditions for those staying there. Some immigration lawyers and advocates have raised doubts about why the Biden administration would allow a facility that proved contentious under Mr Trump to reopen.
I can't wait to see all of the people from CNN, MSNBC, etc. posted outside, balling their eyes out about kids in cages.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

No one wants to admit that, sans rhetoric, Obama was already doing a bunch of what Trump said he was going to do. The biggest mistake Trump made was going from prioritizing deportations to deporting anyone, and it overwhelmed the system. If I am not mistaken, because of that, Obama still deported more people in his first term than Trump did.

Looks like Biden is going to do more of the same and not just sans rhetoric but sans outrage.

I wish more people were upset at a system where we end up doing this than they are looking to make political points (in general). Yeah, the hypocrisy is bad, but our immigration system is in dire need of being revamped.

Keystone aside, which was a dumb decision, I think this is something that Presidents get too much credit and too much blame.

From what I understand, OPEC slashed production during COVID to keep prices up. But now demand is way up and production hasn't been increased. At the same time, refineries have been affected by COVID and cold weather has shut some of them down. Meanwhile, the summer blend is coming.

So I'd be interested in, if this is something we are laying on the new presidency, in what Trump did to keep prices down and what Biden has done to increase them, over and above the other issues.

The weather in Texas has been a huge factor in gas prices running up the past week far beyond the incremental increases the past month.

This. A large amount of our refining goes on in the Gulf states too, not just production.

Yes, four refineries shut down last week. Each one produces 1
Million barrels of gasoline per day. A lot of the country is gonna see a jump in prices because of this...I just filled up my truck for $1.87 a gallon.

A huge chunk of today's issues as it relates to younger people is because of the boomers.

The young progressives are basically boomers with cynicism.
Michael Caine on Jaws: The Revenge:

Pays to live along I-10 corridor where two of the refineries are within 50 miles. Far enough not to get cancer, but close enough to keep the transportation costs down.

You should see Buckee’s here...it’s a gas station that is bigger than most Wal-Marts
