I just don't understand the idea of "let's kill a pipeline and then get more oil from the middle east or have more oil transported by train". Is that a climate change winner?

It's an invitation to more eventual Middle East interventions.

That and the illegals counted on census counts are the only two EOs I have a problem with. The halting of Wall (re)construction is a typical gub'ment money pit that will never do much to stem illegal immigration. The rest of the shit is mostly feel-good fluff. The ending of the "Muslim ban" doesn't matter at least for now considering how lackluster international air travel is and will be for a few years, especially when people will have to be tested for Covid before coming in the country (another unexpected layer of security).

I think a lot of people take up a position that feels right and yet have absolutely no interest in what the actual results of that position will be.

It feels as if people are rarely interested to see if, ultimately, that action or decision yields the good they believe it will.

The Keystone pipeline is one of those things. Okay, we don’t build it. The next question should be, “What then?”

The fantasy answer is it stays in the ground. The real answer is that oil won’t just stay in the ground in Alberta. It’s going to get sold to someone else.

So there’s zero environmental benefit and a net negative in economic impacts. That’s lose-lose for America.
