A POTUS has wide latitude to run the Executive Branch, right or wrong, that's how it is. The bar for "high crimes and misdemeanors" is never really explained, but for many people, including myself, it would have to be willingly aiding and abetting the enemy with the intent to do harm to the United States. That was never even close to being proven.

He acted un-Presidential, and for that, you Censure a sitting POTUS. The Impeachment was a show trial to try and be a pain in his ass, because that is what they do.

As much as I fucking loathe Trump, even I can see that. The Democratic Party did not move forward with impeachment of Donald J. Trump out of love of country, they did it to try and get political blood out of him.

Does that become the new political game for the opposition party? I.e. do the Republicans impeach Biden if they take the House in 2012?

Republicans won't get the House. If they pulled that off and didn't impeach Biden, that would show once again that they are scared of the Democrats. But then again I don't see Biden being around in 2022 or there after.

Yesterday Michigan certified and the GSA triggered the transition

Then Fox hosts including Carlson and Ingram finally conceded

Today Pennsylvania certified

And there are no real legal moves going forward and Trump is hiding out in the White House.

So when is Trump going to stop this money grab that will only hurt the GOP?

Daisy, Trump will never stop a money grab. He always needs more money like a typical grifter. I know you know that, but I'm amazed his supporters are still giving donations to his fund.

Daisy, I love how you are always so worried about the GOP. The GOP has been on a downward spiral since Reagan left office and Trump has led a refreshing resurgence. He pulled in 74M votes in November for crying out loud. Romney got 61M and McCain 60M but Trump is somehow the downfall of the party. Thanks for your concern though.

There was a guy selling trump flags at my Walmart parking lot yesterday..these ridiculous trump without his shirt on firing an AK, and of course rebel flags with trump on them

I agree 74 million is great....congratulations on your candidate getting the second most votes in Presidential election history while the man called Sleepy Joe "sat in his basement" cleaned his clock. T

I wonder if the GOP can find another such "refreshing" candidate in 2024. You think Trump will run at 78 after having the freedom for 4 years of golfing and glad handing and making big bank doing speeches? How about Ted Cruz? Mike Pence? How about Tom Cotton? He is about as exciting as...cotton. Nikki Haley? If there is as the Trump supporters say, a good chance of Biden not finishing his term due to health, well then a 74 year old obese Trump doesn't have much better a chance, does he? Perhaps he won't even be around as a surrogate for a GOP candidate.

Trump was an abnormal person running as an abnormal candidate and running an abnormal presidency triggering an abnormal election. Neither party should look at anything that happened over the last 4-6 years as an indicator of what will happen in the future

I know that for the political party itself, votes are all that matter. But is that true of party members and independents who lean right? Only votes matter? You’ve chosen the team, you just need the ideas enough people will vote for?

Not that this is off limits for the Democrats. They have some decisions to make about what they value.

The backbone of Republicanism is conservatism. Trump’s not a conservative, so is the future of the party away from conservatism?

Politics will only go one way worse in the coming future. A conservative will now be called a ____. A liberal will now be called a socialist. There is very little chance of politics becoming less polarized.
