I came across this the other day, very cool video. the 93 tour was a great tour if you're a fan of that era, they played their asses off.

For my ears, Ed was never more polished and on fire at the same time than '91-'93.

this is just a very genuine video of the guys and how they interacted back then. I really enjoyed this the first time I saw it.

You can hear the difference here between RHRN and what their REAL live sound was at this point in time. This one clip sounds so much damn better.

Not to mention their camaraderie. They were so fuckin' cool. A different kind of "cool" than the original lineup. Less "party cool" but still "party cool" nonetheless, but more "like a family cool." If that makes any sense.

Yep. Remember reading one of the first Insides where Ed was bitching about Sammy's Unboxed and I was like "...uhhh guys?"

So about a month ago we came up with other family ideas regarding the pandemic; this one is that once a week one of the three of us (my wife, daughter, or I) pick a concert off YT and we sit down after dinner and watch it.

Obviously with the love and obsession and the passing of EVH my choices have both been Van Halen. My daughter loves them as well but her favorite is Metallica; my wife also appreciates them as a result of me.

Funny....the first show I chose a few weeks back was the last show from October, 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl...we all loved it and cried.

This week it was my choice again and after combing through set lists I chose the Hamburg show in April, 1993. The reason was that they played 4 - 5 Dave era tunes and the song 5150 which was pretty rare. There is a great vid on YT; clearly audience shot but they did a nice job.

After both my wife and daughter said the chemistry in the band was so strong...especially between Eddie and Sammy; not that 2015 was bad just different....Eddie seemed to be having so much fun.

They were laid back and comfortable with each other, right up to when Leffler died. When he died the safety net fell away, and Ray Daniels used them for his puppet show.

7/23/93 - Atlanta show
10/19/93 - Leffler dies
3/15/94 - Unboxed Released
5/25/94 - start recording of Balance

They were such dicks only playing "5150" overseas in '93 and '95 and only like three times in the U.S.
