Damn shame about what happened there.

Neither the Peavey nor the EVH come close to the quality of the EBMM. By far the best guitar Ed was a part of.

You got that right. The EBMM was the only guitar I really referred to as an "instrument". Serious quality and made in the U.S.A. in S.L.O.

I agree with both the above. Their guitars now blow the socks off most of the other brands.

Didn't Peavey keep on making the 5150 amps and just called them something else?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

Yeah, they changed the name to 6505 (5150) & 6505+ (5150II). My buddy has a 6505+. Much more drive & fuzziness than my 5150 combo.

Love the music clips from FUCK in the video. That is definitely my fave Sam Halen album by a longshot.

I wouldn't say they EVH or Peavey guitars were/are bad quality. At least the USA made ones. Build quality is great on both of them. The difference for me is the sound and feel. I do not like the Wolfgang pickups and the necks on each are ok, but not like the Ball. I have had an EBMM since 94 and it has the best neck, by far. I tried a USA Wolfgang and a striped series for about 1/3 the price right next to it, and the striped series had a MUCH more comfortable neck and better playability. Maybe it was just setup better, but the difference was striking.

How would those compare with the Kramer striped series from the 80s?

That unfortunately, in a way, was a large reason why Ed left EB.

The output and cost of the product wasn’t jiving with him. He wanted to produce more and at different price ranges. It was a very high-quality instrument made in small numbers (for being mass produced). I still say the Peavey’s were right up there, but that’s a matter of opinion. There’s no question the Music Man’s were great axes.

Lots of rumours about him and Ball’s wife, but who knows about that. The logistical issues make more sense.

Went on EBMM's website last night for shitz and giggles.

Christ, they're only doing 3 finishes on the Axis now. Amber, ocean blue & natural. How many were the doing when Ed was with them & with the early verisons of the Axis? At least a dozen, if I remember correctly.

The Axis now seems to be offered more in ltd numbers as part of EBMMs BFR program, some nice examples have come out over the last year or so. The Axis Super Sport is more popular now though and has more options.
