I've always sided with Eddie and company when it came to these splits. He said what needed to be said and no more. He didn't live in the drama of those splits after the fact. His attitude was almost like it was toward cancer..."What are you gonna do?" Fans have kept that grist mill churning for decades. Ed really wanted no part in fueling gossip. He was notoriously private and had no interest in constantly wallowing in the mud, and many took that as some sort of implicit guilt for what went awry. And, I still say he unfairly got burdened with more responsibility for it than was his to shoulder. We all know Ed had his issues, especially later on. But, he was justified and his feelings valid about Dave and Sam and their roles in the demise of each iteration. It was a team effort.

Was listening to another interview on Youtube and it really sounds like Valerie started a lot of the tension between Dave and Eddie. It was with a former Warner Bros executive and he said they all considered Valerie to be the Yoko Ono of Van Halen.

I've been re-reading all my old guitar magazines over the last couple of months, and noted that in the July 1985 issue of Guitar World, Steven Rosen wrote a letter to the 'sounding board" in GW stating that he was "currently researching and writing a book on Edward, the only authorized biography of his life and music." Steven goes on to ask for any and all info available about Eddie and provides his home address in Los Angeles to send it to. I wonder what ever happened to this project?

I understand that 100%. Ed later says yeah we went through times we hated each other but we kept with it. Ed hated Dave at times....but no way would he go as far as wanting him out of the band. Dave was just bound to fly though, right or wrong it's who he was. Van Halen went to the zenith with the help of a guy who couldn't and wouldn't be held back (Dave). So it's only understandable that same person would keep following his dream beyond the band. It was just meant to be. But I understand Ed's feelings 100%. Right when you get to the top, about ready to enjoy it and boom....your leader decides to leave and not work things out and not sacrifice a little of his own ambition.

There's been several attempts by several noted rock critics/authors to get a definitive, authorized Eddie/VH bio off the ground through the years. I forget the authors name atm who was a lead contender to write it, but around 2002 there was a push by the VH brothers to get someone to do a authorized bio and it never got off the ground for two primary reasons - the insane amount of money they wanted both upfront and from book sales and the notoriety of how difficult it would be to work with them to get a book done in any sort of timely fashion.

I'm glad these recent Steve Rosen Interviews are not garnering much commentary.

Surprised but really nice to see the fans are choosing to regoice in the new Wolf stuff & numerous EVH tributes & stuff. Very cool.

As opposed to whats contained within these 1986 interviews. I think the Michael Anthony interviews have never been heard publicly or printed before until now. I can tell you I was honestly shocked to hear Mike like that. Really surprised & very disapointing.

At the end of the EVH interview you can hear the journalist Steve Rosen bitch & whine about David blowing off his interview appointment for the book. ( At the time).

I speculate Steve Rosen might still be scorned & possibly uploaded the previously unheard MA interviews out of long brewing spite against DLR. Idea being to reignite the old '86 media hate campaign against David for quitting & turning the fans against the band members talking smack & whatnot.

The journalist had these interviews over 30 years & just now out of the blue uploads the absolute most salacious interview of all time. From the least likely member. Why now. He could of just left it unheard but chose to upload it now. Funny that.

But as I previously stated very nice to see the fans are not burning up the net with hate commentary & focusing on the positive good vibes instead.

Yeah the comments by Mike were very disappointing. No longer has that good guy Image imo. His comments were pretty bad.
