This one was probably posted but in case not I thought it was a pretty cool funny anecdote from Julian Lennon. Probably the closest to any of The Beatles. I didn't know they lived close by together.

I loathe country, but this was nice. Even the good ol' boys paid tribute:

Well I like older country a little bit, sometimes, just not that present-day pop stuff.

I was a huge VH fan like all of you. Not an inch of my childhood bedroom walls didn't have a photo or article of VH on it. I was class of 1986 - so I lived VH's peak with Roth and the transition to Sammy. I saw the 5150 and Eat Em and Smile tours.

Beam ahead to the 00s and I had the opportunity to explore a dream and go to a party at Eddie's house. There, Eddie played with some local guys on a stage he set up in his back yard. Not the sharpest playing of Ed's career - but he certainly knew how to command the stage and have fun.

Most notably for me that night was sitting in Ed's living room on his sofa (next to a barber shop chair?!) and Ed sitting next to me - and talking graciously to me and the guest all around us.... how surreal - all while he noodled on his guitar (no amp), slung over his shoulder. He just couldn't put it down. Maybe it was insecurity from the crowds or maybe he was just Eddie Fucken Van Halen. It didn't really matter. It made total sense.

Aside from the typical LA party shenanigans... Eddie was a very open and available host. Literally standing in his Kitchen, next to him, looking at all the personal family knick knacks (drawings, pictures from a young Wolfie on the fridge) - Eddie was truly one of us in many ways. His creativity and huge sound helped shaped my career and sense of scale, and my understanding of how creative voices can be shared in many, many ways. He just sounded massive, larger than life, and pushed so much air through his speakers. Though I spent some brief time with him that night... I didn't know Eddie - but I sure did owe Eddie. Eddie Van Halen - thank you for sharing your talent. I cite you often privately and publicly as a reason why I do what I do. You inspired a generation and your presence will be felt for many, many years to come. - JM
