Yep. I say close it out doing the family thing. A job well done and and a legacy that any one of us would have killed for.

I think it would be sad, unfortunate, whatever you want to call it for everyone. Again, I'm not talking about him going out and playing stadiums and arenas, or releasing music or anything. Just playing with Wolf or close friends. But I guess maybe he feels that if he can't go full blast anymore--like he did with Eddie--then he feels there's no point anymore. I can respect that too. Just my opinion.

Oh, I agree completely. For me there are three Mount Rushmore drummers in rock. Bonham, Alex and Charlie Watts. Alex swings like nobody else out there. He's really more big band than rock, which is a huge key to the Van Halen formula. And his sound was always very musical. More notes than beats. Every bit the master that Eddie is.

Alex was the perfect drummer for Van Halen. He is a top drummer to me. If there was a Drumming HOF, Alex would need to be in there!

Alex never overplayed which is what I enjoy about his drumming. He played to what the song needed.

Truth. LOC, Outta Love Again, HFT, GGB, HOP, ITO, IASR, etc, Alex could play as busy as anyone, if thats what the song called for, or just listen to Animal Al on tour, he was a force of nature those first six tours. But, in the studio for the records, yeah he almost always played exactly what worked for a record.

Yeah, some of the stops on the MOR in 1988 had some rough ticket sales (in comparison to expectations).

    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

I don't remember that. I remember being in the mosh pit for a little bit during Metallica's set and getting the fuck outta there. Kind of a "check the box" moment.

I never understood why ticket sales were low for that tour VH was huge. Scorps were pretty big and then you had an upcoming band with Metallica. The economy was doing ok. The only thing I can remember is that was the hottest summer on record here in Ohio. Have not even come to close to that heat 30+ years later. We had numerous days over 100 degrees and the only time I can ever remember a drought up here in NE Ohio. It was I think 100 when they played at the Rubber Bowl (real name) and by the time VH came on, I was spent.
