Neat little tidbit of the recording of You're No Good. To this day, I never compare the two versions. I love them both. I have always maintained that Van Halen , "Van Halenized," (like all their covers) a great pop tune.

    Think Psycho.

    Lol....love it!

Yeah, I watched that last night, it was really good and you could tell just how much Ed, and the whole band, meant to him.

Its interesting as one gets older, you lose that whole us vs them attitude. Like growing up, Anthrax and Metallica were kind of the anti-Van Halens. Or a band like Rage, Nirvana, etc. Then when people get older you find out how big of fans musicians in those bands were and they all loved VH. Scott Ian is hosting on the Van Halen channel. This great interview with Jason which is a bit different than most. Dave Grohl huge VH fan. Etc In other words you get older and you just put the bull shit aside.

Dana White Opens up How Eddie Van Halen Is Connected to Every UFC PPV in the Past 11 Years

    essentiallysports.com/ufc-news-dana-white-opens-up-how-eddie-van-halen-is-connected-to-every-ufc-ppv-in-the-past-11-years-mma-news/

    BY RISHABH SINGH
    OCTOBER 10, 2020

While it may not be very evident to a fan watching UFC fights, but every PPV event of the past eleven years has a connection with legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen. UFC supremo Dana White took to Twitter and revealed how his love for one of Van Halenís creation has been intertwined with UFC PPVs.

The UFC President hired Albert Lineses III as the official DJ of the UFC eleven years ago. His tenure in the UFC till now has been highly successful. Along with Dana, former UFC chairman, Lorenzo Fertitta also had only good things to say about Lineses.

When Dana hired Albert, he made it clear that he was a fan of Van Halenís Intruder. Moreover, he wanted a way to include it in every UFC PPV. Lineses obliged and since then the song has opened the PPV portion of the shows for the past eleven years.

Dana White shared this information following the passing of Van Halen a few days back, amidst the huge influx of tributes for the co-founder of Van Halen.

Fans may expect an increased presence of Van Halenís creations in tonightís UFC event
The UFC is currently in the midst of its second run on Fight Island. This time the proceedings opened with UFC 253 headlined by a fight between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa. This was followed by UFC on Fight Island 4 which saw two women headlining a UFC event for the first time in Abu Dhabi.

Continuing with its slew of entertaining cards on every weekend, UFC on Fight Island 5 will look to give the audience their dose of the weekly action. A bantamweight contest between Cory Sandhagen and Marlon Moraes will headline the card.

Considering the passing away of Eddie Van Halen, Lineses is likely to give a tribute to the revolutionary figure of the music industry in tonightís event.

The UFCís run on Fight Island will end on a high note with UFC 254. The event features a deep main event card along with a massive headliner. Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will go up against the human highlight reel and interim champ Justin Gaethje.

    That was great.

I like Metallica but don't know much about the drama of the band, if there was any surrounding Newsted. But I always liked him.

That's cool of Jack White to do that with the blue guitar as a nod to Eddie.

Jack is filling in for some country act who didn't obey the Covid rules and got kicked off the show.

I thought it would be cool if SNL replayed the "Stompin' 8H" jam when Ed was the musical guest and Valerie hosted.

Yeah, from what I hear he is a jealous MFer. At least Page has some decency.

One of my favorite moments was a concert in PGH where someone had a banner that said " If Clapton is god then EVH is JC"

Sammy loved it, picked it up and showed it to the crowd. Ed blushed.

I think Clapton just didnít get Ed. Clapton had already been upstaged when Jimi came along; I think thatís what sent him into more groove oriented bands and less of a guitar hero situation. He couldnít hang. His innovative time was short lived. He was quickly surpassed by more innovative players.

And I think that Edís interaction with EC may have shaped his interactions with so many people he inspired. Itís really wonderful for folks like Vai and Satch to open up about how much Ed meant to them and how graciously he interacted with them. For me, that has been one of the big surprises of the past few days.

Ok so that was odd. After Jack White's second performance, they came back from the break and played a random 5 second clip of Eddie's performance from 1985. It then quickly cut off. At least Bill Burr was wearing a Van Halen 1984 shirt and said Rest In Peace, Eddie Van Halen. I was watching in Canada, so maybe the broadcast was different in the US.
