Some of those old guys are just not down with the 24/7 news cycle. Clapton might say something next year. I don't have a problem with that. I understand why some ppl might want to stay quiet and not share their feelings.

I read a lot of neat stories on facebook (sorry if they've already been mentioned, I'm on a quick break from work). Sass Jordan has a couple of posts where she expands a bit on her visit to 5150 in 96. Jimmy Barnes had a good facebook post about Ed but he said Ed asked him to join VH whereas Ed and Al have always maintained he sent them a demo....so believe what you want I guess

I'll wait as long for a (longer) statement from DLR about Eddie. Not some funky riffing on some talk radio show, but a statement. Like I said, I'll wait.

Eddie Van Halen was a brilliant guitarist who started a technique of guitar playing which was emulated by a whole generation of guitarists. He was one of the nicest musicians I ever met in the music business. Very shy and not at all conceited about his ability as a guitar player. Frank Zappa said he reinvented the guitar. I agree. He will be sadly missed but his brilliant legacy will always be remembered. The ultimate guitar hero.

I am so glad that Ritchie commented.

Just heard the devastating news...
One of the absolute giants is gone. He influenced and inspired an entire generation, including myself.
His legacy will always remain.
