If I saw a tribute show, I'd just be sitting there thinking, "Eddie would be better." Just me being selfish and I'm happy with that.
I always thought a VH Cover album of their favorite influential bands would have been awesome. I enjoyed the Cream jam session they did on the 2012 tour.

Yep, I get it. Its just that in my opinion, Van Halen's music is untouchable.

Van Halen is forever in our hearts and the music lives on. As for unreleased material, tribute concerts, or tribute albums, I am sure some or all of those things will happen in the future. Whatever happens will be fitting and bittersweet. For now, I will enjoy the treasure trove of music, videos, and live concert footage of the Mighty Van Halen that already exists in the annals of history. When the other stuff comes, I'll be right there to celebrate the King's enduring legacy.

The music will live on for sure but I canít see Al going out or doing anything without his brother.
I will sit and wait for an official dvd of the US Festival or the Oakland 81 show to get released. Eddie was to much of a perfectionist to release that stuff.
Wolfie is in touch with the VH fan base and I could see him releasing some stuff down the road.

    Long live Van Halen.

I cannot imagine at this stage of his life that there is anything that would compel Al to take a stage without Eddie. His entire musical career was shared with Eddie.

They could do something like Queen did with their last real release, "No-One But You (Only the Good Die Young)". It's not like they didn't have songs with Brian or Roger singing lead, but not both of them. [unless you count "Let Me Live"]

Anyway, put some of the guitar pieces together, add Alex and Mikey, then have Dave and Sammy. Maybe have Gary sing back-up and maybe the bridge. Start off the song with some synthesizer, Dave does the first verse, Sammy the second and the third verse is all of them, together or line-by-line. Maybe have Wolf or someone write the lyrics so they can't complain about each other.

It's the 21st century, it's not like they all need to be in a studio together. I'm really not sure Eddie actually had a dozen albums worth of material, but I'm sure he had something. AC-DC is releasing its second album based on Malcolm's work and he's been gone for years.

They were the engine and definition of Van Halen for me. I saw them with three different singers and two different bass players.

I would not go to anything called "Van Halen" without Ed or Al.

    Others' mileage may vary.
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

I could get behind a one-off tribute show, I think.

    Can’t imagine they would tour.

Like everyone else, waiting now for live stuff, compilations containing anything they can finish that they feel is releasable, and Hagar remasters.
    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.

I fully agree with the idea of a tribute show, but VH is very unlikely to continue as a band.
As a legacy, quite likely: old recordings, shows, videos... there's quite a lot waiting to be released.
Be ready for my new amp "III OSIS" produced by H^3 in stores soon [that was funny in 2006]

Not even with his brother's son and former band mate of almost 15 years? And again it wouldn't be called "Van Halen" and they would not be a recording/touring group after the one-time tribute concert or tour.

There are guitar players you just can't replace in a band. Eddie is one of them.

If Van Halen were to come back though in some way I would choose Nuno to fill in for Ed. I doubt he would ever do it though as EVH is one of his idols, so forget it.

Roth can try and get Steve Vai but it would feel more like his solo stuff.

Anyway Van Halen wouldn't be Van Halen without Ed.

If Nuno wants to fill in for him that would be ideal.
