They can do a one time tribute with everyone if they wish.

Outside of that I hope VH is done. Just not the same without Ed. Cannot see Al wanting to play more than one tribute show without Ed.

It's not VH without Ed

Queen did a tribute concert for Freddie to raise funds for AIDS research. I could be happy with a one off with ALL former members, Wolfie, Dave, Mike and Sammy plus guest guitarists as a tribute to raise money for cancer research.

Right now I’m not of the mind set to start thinking about what I’d like to see down the road.
The truth is, anything that happens is up to Wolf and what he will want to do for his Dad, whatever that is or isn’t, he has my full support
Eddie touched a lot of people in this world, and I’m sure he taught Wolf a lot. Whatever path Wolf chooses to go on and whether or not it has anything to do with Van Halen will be up to him.
In the meantime, I like everyone else will continue to mourn, and the memories will be all I ever need

I would hope that Wolf will go on and do his own thing and not tether his career to the Van Halen band. We know he recorded his own album so obviously he’s prepared to do his own music. I think that’s the way he should go and leave Van Halen’s legacy with what we have. The best thing he could do for the fans is to dig into those vaults when he feels comfortable and pull out some of those gems for the fans. I would appreciate that more than any live event.

The best thing we could hope for is that Wolf and Al decide to release a lot of cool material that we’ve never heard before. That would be far more awesome to have any half assed live show without the greatest guitarist to walk the earth.

No, no, no. Just like Zeppelin ended with Bonham, "Van Halen" as a performing band is no more. Wolf carries the name and the legacy in his own work which we hopefully get to hear soon. I doubt he has any interest in "standing in" for Eddie. I hope he and Alex manage the "Van Halen" legacy in terms of unreleased music, maybe even some old concert videos, etc...keep it alive that way. But, "Van Halen" has taken the stage for the last time.

Really, Van Halen (the band) as a creative entity ended long before Ed passed. So the future of VH is no different now than it was 3 days ago. The legacy was intact 30 years ago. It’s good to know there was peace between everyone in the end.

I would go. And I would feel good about it if it was a happy occasion for the band members looking back with a smile on their face, a celebration of Eddie in effect.

If Wolf said I want to carry on this music one more time for the fans, for my dad, FOR ME, for closure. Let's go out and have a party every time we play this year for my dad. I would go and be a part of that emotion without a doubt. A party celebrating Ed. This of course is something that would only happen a ways from now. After everyone has moved on from pain to the next stage of someone passing, smiles and memories remembering Ed.

Yeah exactly. One tour with Dave, Sam, Al, Mike, and Wolf. Not anytime soon but down the road. A celebration of the band. I’m going if they do it.

I nominate Nuno as the stand in. He's got the closest I've heard to Eddie's swing and feel to do it.

Oh, and don't let Slash play anything unless it's backing tambourine or something. Not after he butchered the HOF and then Crazy Train in front of Ozzy.

But yeah, there can't be a Van Halen without Eddie. Just can't happen.

Its kind of weird/ironic--I don't really know the word for it, but I always loved hearing Eddie's version of someone else's songs. Van Halen was the best cover band ever. But I've never wanted to hear someone else's version of a Van Halen song. In my opinion, he made their songs better. I've never heard a Van Halen song that was made better by another person or band. How do you one-up Van Halen? Obviously, I am biased and maybe a little closed minded about this, but I really don't see how they can be improved upon. If I saw a tribute show, I'd just be sitting there thinking, "Eddie would be better." Just me being selfish and I'm happy with that.

It's a chance for everyone to get together and say goodbye. It's therapeutic. A celebration.

I'm sure everyone at the Freddie Mercury show thought Freddie would have been better too, but they still wanted the other guys to get on stage and do the songs again and let everyone show their love.
