I find it impressive that VH is still selling a 1,000 albums a day in America.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I just posted the same article on my Facebook. I added the caption:

I figured this would happen. What took the people this long to check it out? At least they are buying good music.

My first thought. People who are buying this now missed out on the live shows, almost for sure. What a loss they'll never realize.

it was interesting how Van Halen was perceived by non fanatics like us from 2000 to present.

I can recall when I would go see them from 04 on through 2015 no one knew they were still a group. They never knew about the reunions, the ADKOT album, and who was the singer. That was what they would ask each time I would say I went to a live Van Halen show. They would ask that comment "who is singing for them now?" and also "they are still around?"

This is how it always happens. We walk around stuck in our little neuroses and worries, and then Death shakes us by the throat, and we wake up to joy and inspiration.

But we don't learn to stay awake.

Albums and songs -- seems like mostly songs too. According to my math, it's about 152 albums and about 500 songs on October 5th.
Probably all stuff from the peak of 1984 and 5150.

What's great is the depth of songs being sold with the increase. Casual fans digging deeper, new fans finding the good stuff.

Seems to be the trend. With all the interviews and tributes out there, people start to hear some snippets of music they might not have heard before, especially the younger generations. I know I ended up buying a bunch of David Bowie and Tom Petty music that I previously didn't have after they both died.

The legacy is now being passed to an even younger generation.
Signature not currently available. You aren't missing much.

Interesting to note the Top 10 selling songs so far ..

Van Halen’s top 10 biggest-selling songs on Oct. 6 were: “Jump” (3,000), “Panama” (2,000), “Eruption” (2,000), “Runnin’ With the Devil” (2,000), “You Really Got Me” (2,000), “Dance the Night Away” (1,000), “Why Can’t This Be Love” (1,000), “Hot for Teacher” (1,000), “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love” (1,000) and “Jamie’s Cryin’” (1,000). (Figures are rounded to the nearest thousand.)
"One of the reasons I left Sabbath was because Van Halen was blowing us off the stage every night. It was embarrassing." -Ozzy Osbourne

"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

"A lot of bands mature, which means they get square; they start delivering messages. Hey, you got a message, use Western Union." -DLR

Makes sense - those are all of the songs referenced in the articles about his passing.

Granted this likely is short lived but WHAT IF.....

Some kids are getting their first experience with VH, great guitar solos and trying not to be the next LZ? Maybe this could be a spark to some of these kids?

Its amazing with all the lost time, lack of marketing, etc they still have sold something like the 20th most albums of any band.
