    Default Once

It’s weird what resonates with you through a death, but something cold went through me last night and “Once” was playing in my head.
I don’t know why. I’ve never had a real connection with it ever, but the line “Have you ever been touched “ just hit me. You will be missed Ed. This song is constantly in my head today.
What is understood need not be discussed

"Dont disturb my paradise. I've asked you once. I've asked you nice" - "SERIOUS JU JU"

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

    It's a good song.

I have always had a soft spot for VHIII. I was going through a nasty divorce when this album was released, and VHIII helped me get through it. There are a few stinkers on the album, but I always found the album, as a whole, to be very therapeutic for me at the time.

there are some really good songs on the album. The production on it isn't good though but when I just shuffled all by VH stuff yesterday, whenever a VH3 song came on I didn't skip it. Once is a beautiful piece of music and Gary can write great lyrics.

Got to admit, I listened to How Many Say I a couple of times after reading Gary Cherone's interview with Rolling Stone. Totally unlike anything Van Halen had ever done, but it is unique to have 1 song where Eddie took the lead in singing.
The song ain't dirty it's really just the way we sing it...

the song is horrible but I'm happy we have one song he sang lead on.

I don't hate it, oddly. I don't think I had listened to it since I first bought the album many years ago - but the work he did with the instruments in the song was interesting, too.

But yeah - it's unique to have the one he took the lead on.

Once isn't horrible, but it is too long. Here's the rare shorter version they were going to release as a single but never did.

..it's a shame. No secret that I am the the "pro-III fraction". But I on purpose in my car put on the non-VH catalog. Once somehow slipped on there and after hearing the first note there were those red eyes again...

Just a few minutes ago I listened to the tracks of a Circle surprise gig at a bar (see Sammy news-thread). They played Finish What Ya Started. That is an equally far departure from "classic" VH as Once is.
