Default The tricks and nuances of Edward Van Halen

He taps up with his index finger, hand and thumb resting on the neck to help mute noise.
He up picked his double stops.
The blues licks had soul and rhythm with the way he would sweep pick down and up pick the pull offs.
Early on he was mostly held his pick with the middle finger.
The tremolo picking is a twitch. It takes 3-6 months to develop into a useful technique.
To get his tone you better hold that pick more parallel to the strings and strike those mother fuckers.

    Anyone got anymore?
    RIP King Edward

I have for 15 years through many forums (here, metro). I've been meaning to ask, what's the right picking pattern for On Fire and do you have a tab for it anywhere?

The up-picking of the double stops is something a lot of people probably wouldn't appreciate or notice.

    Well done.

A benevolent stranger mentioned it I think on TGF, looked into it myself and he was right, he loved up picking. Wonder if Clapton did the same thing.

This thread is helping me cope a bit. Van Halen was played to me in the womb. Eddie was there since before I was even born. I already miss him.
