Ed's death is unfortunately what rekindled my love for the band. I hadn't really listened to Van Halen for a couple of years, and his passing made me delve deeper into their catalogue than I had ever before. Prior I was pretty much a surface level fan, just listened to the hits, hadn't even listened to the Sammy era albums 🤣. Me becoming completely obsessed would be an understatement. I listened to pretty much nothing but Van Halen for a whole straight year.

So today I'm gonna annoy the neighbors by cranking some Van Halen to the max. Happy birthday Ed.

Curious, sounds like you’re similar to me in that you likely recognize the superiority of the first six Roth era records. However, do you find times when based on your mood or whatever that at times you prefer cranking 5150, OU812, Balance etc.. over the Roth era?

Eddie is the reason I even thought about playing a guitar. While my style is now more in the vein of Billy Gibbons, Eddie made it look so fun. He always looked like he was having the time of his life on stage, which he probably was! It is so sad to think we have another year without him but his legacy is intact. I was watching a show from Knoxville online yesterday and just a little slide he did before ripping into the main riff of a song gave me chills. I really wished I could have spoken to him for just 5 minutes in my life.
