I do remember when F.U.C.K. came out, Ed said in an interview that he hadn't played guitar for months...better part of a year, IIRC.

    So...ASSuming that's even true, I guess you're right.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

The same time he had surgery on his hand and wasn't even sure he'd be able to play again, after the reunion tour with Dave.

Nothing can fix VH3, imo. Obviously the overall production quality is terrible. The music is hit and miss. But, for me personally, I just cannot stand the sound of Gary’s voice. His lyrics are kind of irrelevant, because I really have no idea what they are. He seems like a nice guy, but his singing sounds like musical white noise to my ears.

I still honestly believe Van Halen will tour at least one more time and, yes, put out at least one more album. With somebody.

Man, I admire your optimism. VH has never been more dead & buried. At least in ‘99-2000 they were still relatively young and you figured eventually something would happen. The last tour in ‘15, The band was on auto pilot, and Dave was pretty cringeworthy. Ed has been incredibly silent the last few years (even for him). Then the mystery Illness... I’ll be shocked if we ever hear a new VH tune, let alone a record.

I think VH is done. no tours unless someone is totally broke. no new albums.

they'll probably remaster the first 6 records a few more times

You never know. He might again change his way of thinking and start releasing two records a year. It would take a sea change, but it's not impossible. He could change for the better.

Jeez guys, this is Van Halen we're talking about here. I'm not understanding the pessimism.

I could see studio stuff with Gary or somebody else maybe. It depends if Ed gets the itch to do another album or a side project. Dave and Sammy eras probably are done in the rafters but who knows.

Anything has to be better than crickets chirping. I hope Ed hasn't hung up the guitar and his creative drive for good.

Always hope for more Van Halen people!!!

A "sea change"? Yeah, in the seas of time. You'd have to turn the clocks back 40 years. Sorry, but that's a young man's game. That hunger, fire, passion, energy and creativity fade with age. It's natural. Even if Ed had been 100% healthy in recent years, I doubt there'd have been another album. Maybe a tour for the 40th. But beyond that... Not to knock Wolf, but he hasn't put out one album in 14 years that he's been professional. And, he's a young man on the back end of his most creative years. No way Ed could get back to that two albums in a year at his age. That fire is gone. But, God bless him. If Ed ever feels the urge to play live again, it would be cool if the Van Halens went small-scale. Small theaters. Doing an instrumental kind of thing. Explore different ideas in an almost jazz way. It's fun to dream.
