And the idea that it’s OK that rich people lost their homes because they can rebuild is absolutely disgusting bullshit. People build their lives in their homes and they’ve lost everything. It doesn’t matter if they’re rich or not. It’s just as devastating for them as anyone else. And a lot of people have worked very hard for their homes, rich or not. The callousness I’m reading from people who don’t live here is disgusting. Not everyone in Los Angeles is wealthy. My friend who lost his home is a security guard for fucks sake.

Hard to disagree with any of this. As opinionated as I (and so many others) can be, let's mourn the dead, lament the losses, lift each other up, and figure out how we help so many of our brothers and sisters in all parts of this nation to rebuild from recent devastation. There will be harsh truths and consequences to confront in the coming weeks and months - but we need to collectively fight the impulsiveness that is fueled by social media to not be so mean-spirited and vile.

Famous people losing their homes is every bit is tragic as anyone else. They are people too. it doesn’t make it any less terrible that they lost everything because everyone is bitter that famous people have homes as well. They are real residents as well. Billy Crystal lived in Pacific Palisades since 1979. He’s not a real resident? 46 years?

But that’s what the shitty national media and abominable social media world does, creates a narrative that has no basis in reality

And the people who are being interviewed who lost their homes are obviously in shock and just saying stupid things. The Pacific Palisades is 100% gone. Clearly nothing was focused on helping the rich people. And that fire is still wildly out of control. And there are plenty of rich people in the Altadena area as well. And by the way, my friend who lived in Altadena, who lost his home, said there were fighterfighters on his street when he left. And he doesn’t live in a mansion. That’s what actually gave him some hope that they could stop it. Obviously that didn’t happen.

Because it’s salt water. It’s corrosive and can cause damage to metal parts and things like that so that’s why it’s not used very often. It also can cause damage to the ecosystem and when it’s widespread like we have there’s a chance for a lot of that. It can really damage the soil, and have very negative effects for decades.

This is where my parents’ house is in relation to some of the evacuations. It’s teetering right on it but it’s been like this for days and it hasn’t gotten any closer. But my mom has the car packed and the dog ready if she has to go to one of my cousins’. They’re a lot closer than we are and we have cats and shit. My mom doesn’t wanna have an issue with that.

It's good that your mom's all packed up and has somewhere to go in case she had to leave. Hoping it doesn't come to that.
