Default Lovin' my 5150 striped series...

Had a Charvel DK24 that I never really bonded with. So I finagled a deal to swap for a 5150 striped series. Wow, am I loving this thing! So much fun to play, great action, killer sound. And the fact that I catch myself in the mirror every now and them with those iconic stripes strapped across my shoulder doesn't hurt either...

Had one of the original EVH striped series when it first came out and it didn't play nearly as well as this does. So now I'm considering another of the EVH 5150 guitars but without the stripes. Who's got one and how's it working for you?

Tell me more about the EVH Striped Series not playing as well. What makes the 5150 Striped series a better fit for you?

Itís interesting the earlier guitar didnít play as well because theyíre all basically the same spec. The body shape is different, but body wood, neck shape, but width, radius, pickup, etc. are all fairly consistent on the striped series guitars.

But Iím stoked you found a winner with the 5150. Iíve heard good things about the non-striped versions too. ďDave, not DavidĒ (formerly Yaminub) here has one. The quilt top ones look amazing to me.

I have the 5150 Blue Deluxe guitar, and it’s amazing. Great guitar and the ebony fret board is a nice touch (both aesthetically and tone wise). The only complaint I have is with the body shape, the lower horn seems to get in the way when I'm playing on and around the 21st 22nd frets. That being said, it’s a Beast and plays fantastic.

Not sure really. It's just one of those things where something feels better and plays better. The original striped series certainly wasn't bad. It was a great guitar. I'm just bonding with the 5150 more. I've had a number of guitars over the years, from cheapos to more expensive, and this one just fits well for some reason. It's a keeper!
