I speak for myself. Anything that came after Ratt/Motley was garbage. There were a few exceptions. Bands with names like Kix?

Never was a big fan either but no doubt some good tunes were forged in that era.

Some of that music was good......and some of it was horrible.

True that! Like Uncle Tom's Cabin - IMHO, that's Warrant best tune ever.

Me like some Winger. Well, actually I dig their records and I own them all. Like a guilty pleasure.

I think with many of us, we simply moved onto different music as we gotten older. I mean as a kid I loved a basic hamburger. Didn't really like cheesburgers but then eventually I got into that. Then it was the lettuce and tomato. Later on bacon. Then mayo was added to ketchup and mustard. Then I found out about jalapenos. I still like a hamburger or a basic cheeseburger but I now prefer something else.

I went from VH straight into Thrash/Metal. There was some hair stuff I dug but much like how the lyrics of Black & Blue make DD roll eyes...the whole look just rubbed me wrong and I took it out on the music because of it. I love fun music but a lot of it was cheesy. Flotsam & Jetsam has a song called "Hammerhead" about a killer BJ with an aggressive attack music-wise. Newsted was all over the place. You can be fun and not OTT glammed out but I digress.

there's some cool stuff in the "hair band" genre. lots of bands got lumped into that just because they debuted during that phase. Tesla is a great example. they have a lot of cool songs and were not a hairband but they get lumped in.

I don't lump them. That was a straight up blues-based good rock band.

I think a lot of those bands also "dolled up" because they were pressured to by their labels. There's nothing "glam" about Cinderella, other than their name. If you never saw the videos/album covers and only heard the songs, you'd never say they were glamorous.

Ratt is by far my favorite from the genre, followed by Cinderella. Lots of good songs by those two bands. As was mentioned, Tesla is another good band, though not really hair metal but they were lumped in with the genre.

Uncle Tom's Cabin is easily Warrant's best tune, and Ride The Wind is easily Poison's best tune. After those, both bands have a couple songs that are tolerable, but that's about it.

Yeah, it's weird because Tom Kiefer actually had a pretty good voice when he just sang "normal" and he ended up paying for it in the 90s with all kinds of throat issues.
