Idk, maybe they had more money to spend in the Sam years? Reading Monk's book, it seems any money left over from a tour was always put right back into the production of the show.

1984 was professionally shot and no coincidence it was their biggest year.

Live Without A Net is one of the greatest concert videos ever made. It was a perfect representation of Van Halen.

It was a perfect representation of Van Halen in 1986. It would be nice to have something from 1978 to 1984. I remember those years of Van Halen, and they were awesome. Like, totally.

They were definitely a completely different beast compared to LWAN. LWAN is great for what it is, but...

Well, then Van Halen is the greatest band ever to never be represented on film in their prime. Shame.

What professionally shot 1984 concert video are you talking about?

Some of the blame lays at the feet of Noel Monk and his very short sighted vision. Instead of planning this kind of release, which was his job, he preferred to get into fist fights with merchandise bootleggers. No wonder he hasn't spoken to anyone in the VH camp in 35 years!

Post 1985, everyone split into either camp Dave or Camp Halen. Except one guy, Noel Monk. He was sent to camp "nobody wants you, go away and never come back."

I'm just going by what I THINK I heard MA say that some 1984 tour was pro shot.

He was asked about 1981 and said there was only the 3 songs filmed from that tour he recalls.

Largo/Baltimore, Maryland, Capital Center's in house video screen was absolutley captured on the 1984 tour....David posted short audio snippets from it on his official website years ago...

Not so sure that qualifies as technically being "pro shot" but it would be the same source as the 1982 Largo which is pretty damn good.

I think this same Youtube channel My Collection which used to be called Real Collector from where the above clip is from probably has it there.

One of the long time big VH Enthusiasts who is a former pro photographer I've intertacted with on the FB said he personally saw this pro shot 1984 tour video at Sebastion Bach's house way back years ago. You can't always believe everything folks say but can't imagine him to be one of the flakes. But Sebastion Bach's old house caught fire & he lost a lot of stuff. I suppose someone could ask him about it. He's always around on the KISS memorbilia pages plenty of folks chit chat with him.

Then of course there's the Panama video footage some of which was clearly filmed live in concert.

I agree- It would be nice to see a full pro shot 1984 show at some point in the future.

I think you may on to something. Great Music Trivia Question.

As for Largo Video from what was projected on a screen, that is not "Pro-Shot." Zeppelin's Knebworth and Earl's Court screen video fall into the same category.

A bit off topic but I love this video of Sebastian Bach shopping in a record store. Everything I ever saw of him before made me think he was one of the biggest tool's on the planet, but this video changes my mind. Comes off as a normal guy and such a huge music fan.

Pretty cool series called "whats in my bag" follows artists through a record store as they shop for music related items. Mostly Indie/Alternative artist's but a few for guys like us such as Jerry Cantrell and Lars Ulrich and Duff McKagan. Check it out.

Every show VH did at the old Capital Centre was professionally shot.

They just don't want to pay for it to release it.

They have a fully recorded and processed DVD from the 2007/08 tour that they haven't released because Ed wasn't happy with his playing on it. They paid for it and didn't release it.

This is just who they are as a band.
