    lol and I checked bowling.

I figured I’d start with USC, since if you were a pro, it would at least show up in Intramural
or Interscholastic leagues, if not a D1 sanctioned sport.

Have you ever noticed that many times the better or more gifted player or team loses to a dangerous, but not as talented opponent?

The simple answer is they choke, but why?

Because they believe they should win, as itís some sort of forgone conclusion. Theyíre more talented, coached better, they donít cheat, etc ...

They feel as though they should wipe the opponent off the field with ease, that every play or the large majority of the plays should go their way. Itís only right, right?

When a team or individual goes out to the field of play thinking they have the ďhigh moralĒ ground (especially) they are exponentially more likely to overplay, to overplay even more at the first sign of adversity, they press, they get tight, their game doesnít flow and as the score goes against them, the downward spiral becomes a black hole, from which they canít recover.

I knew this was gonna happen with so many teams that played the Astros this year (regardless of Covid). Too many teams felt like they had to win, to right some wrong for all of baseball. How many teams declared they were gonna ďget them?Ē The MLB front office had to step in.

Yeah, that kind of mentality is short circuit anyoneís ability to let the game flow.

Itís been on full display in this series, thatís why I posted the Star Wars clip about the hate.

Iím not saying the Astros are gonna win game 7, but if the Rayís come out of the tunnel with any of this in their minds...itíll be like the Astros are taking the diamond up 3 to 5 runs before the Anthem is sung.

So let that hate and self-righteous indignation fuel the Super-ego of the fans and players.

The Astros are bad, theyíre jerks, and that brand of hate will give them a chance to add another ring to their collection.
There absolutely is some truth to what you're saying.
The Astros were an average team this year, statistically and record-wise (sub .500); their opponents didn't choke that often during the season. Plus they lost Cole in the off-season and Verlander to injury. They shouldn't have made the playoffs but they did.
The strange thing about them is that they are a talented team, especially in years they were cheating. I'd say, yes, the Twins and A's choked big time. I think for the A's it perhaps falls under the theory you presented. They are rivals, after all. Nothing new for the Twins in the postseason, though. But the Rays were up 3-0 in this series. They wait until then to start their choking? Anyway the Rays won and this Houston run is over.

Whatever itís over for the Astros. And Iím sorry if itís upsetting Astro fans that I am. I donít like them and Iím glad they lost. I didnít like them before the cheating stuff came out. I just donít like the players on that team.

Tampa Bay survived. Still don't know why you take Morton out at that point with only 60 some pitches, but it worked out, so on to...Arlington

I thought the same thing. When the 6th inning began, Morton hadn't thrown his 50th pitch yet. That is extremely rare. Even when they took him out the Astros still weren't squaring the ball up against him. A few infield dribblers got him in trouble. But, fortunately, it all worked out.

The best part about this whole conversation....

    I’m not an Astros fan.
