Or did you mean: more IRONIC.

Think about the fact that this sunny, beach bum of a tune, was recorded about two weeks before Christmas!

"Summer Nights" was also recorded around late fall into the dead of Winter.

Mike, back when he posted on here a little bit in the early 2000's, said that song was written with the DLR fans in mind.

Eh...5150 as whole album is one that didn’t impress me. Personally, it’s just above III for me. It’s really about when you became a fan. Someone posted they didn’t like D.O.A., which is a head scratcher to me, but they became a fan well after it was released. The song Summer Nights could’ve been written by Night Ranger, not knocking on Night Ranger, but Night Ranger couldn’t hold a candle Van Halen before 5150.

i always liked "Summer Nights," even way back then.

Looking back, 5150, is a really strong album.

It ain't CVH, it's its own thing, but the songwriting is pretty impressive.

See, BALANCE i do not get.

I don't hear any songs that grab me.
    Great Production, though.

    But 5150....
    even OU812...

They had a bunch of songs that were well crafted and inspired.

I hated it at the time, but secretly knew they were still high caliber songsmiths.

OU812 is already the best Sam album, but keep Ed's and Al's tones on OU812, however give it the production of Balance or the production of the BVO1 tracks and damn that would be an AMAZING record.

Summer Nights is playing right now in the music mix I’m listening to.

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

With Ted Templeman and some better lyrics provided by Dave and these records would have smoked.
