Any word on when theyíll ship? Anyone got one yet? I was told mine would probably ship in November.
VH III is Ed's solo album. So everybody who keeps saying they wish he'd do one needs to stfu and listen to III. Then stfu again.

Some are starting to ship. I was able to find and buy one late last week. I was checking Reverb on a daily basis. Also was checking Guitar Center and Sweetwater daily. Best advice I can think of is if you want one, and find one, pull the trigger quickly.

I picked up this one from Sam Ash last week in White Plains, NY.

They must have been in a hurry on this one, didn't drill all the holes from the original pickguard.

Is the paint job like a satin paint job? Is it flat, like that relicing is just part of the paint job?

One of my customers is a big name brand pick up company and they just opened about 2 weeks ago. It will probably take a while to get caught up on orders.

It's fine with me, more authentic, I guess. Never was a big fan of the red version of the frankie-but this one is nice and light compared to my Bee.

5150 is my favorite, built one about 10 years ago.

cgcharvel - mine does not have the holes drilled for the full size pick guard either. Also I wish they had aged the hardware a bit. The bridge nut and tuners are very new. I also find it interesting that your neck (and mine too) appear to be quite dark.
All of that said I really am glad I got one. Total blast to play. I even screwed a 1971 quarter to it and installed a fu-tone big brass block just for fun.
    Aint life grand!

Have you tried cleaning the neck? I haven't changed the strings yet, but might try cleaning it when I do. Fine tuners are kind of gritty, I'm sure that wasn't part of the relic job.

It is a great playing guitar, like the other EVH guitars I've owned-Ed doesn't make junk. Neck feels more like a Charvel than EVH, thinner with less shoulder.

Haven't decided on the '71 quarter or reflectors yet.....

Funny thing, first thing I do when I get a new guitar is a complete dis-assembly and cleaning. Then I set it up the way I like it. I did clean and condition the neck as well as polished the frets for good measure. It did not really lighten the neck up at all. I agree the neck feels much thinner than an EVH or the Peavey Wolfgang. As far as the fine tuners mine were gritty like yours appears to be and the d-tuna was stiff. What I did, and it worked well, for the fine tuners was I ran them all the way out and put a drop of 3 and 1 oil on the threads. Not out of the threaded holes, just to the stopping point. Then ran them in and out all the way 5 or 6 times. They finally loosened up. For the d-tuna just the normal correct setting so it is not riding on the body as well as oiled the inside and outside lightly. Works like it should now.
Do you happen to know if these have a 2 way truss rod? My neck was very (really too) flat for my liking and when loosening the rod it felt like I lost all tension then regained tension after 1/4 turn. I would only expect that on a 2 way.
