Going to get slagged here but when I think coolest iconic I don't think of guys who pretty much stood in one place, tapping their feet and maybe putting their hand in their hair. Talking about a guy who makes every show a party. Has to run around. Has to engage the crowd too in banter.

My top three are Mick, Freddie and Dave. Freddie likely the best since he had the best voice and could command the crowd. However I don't know if anybody every had the rock star vibe as down pat as DLR in for the first 6 albums. He was larger than life in everything

So going with Dave on this

Bryan Ferry back in the day never moved an inch but ozzed cool. Same with Robert Palmer.

YES- DLR is the # 1 Coolest Iconic Most Legendary Rock Star type frontman performer...

Need proof?.....Just look back at all the Circus & Creem rock magazines....DLR took the cake....Big Time....so thats that...

But wait- What? You mean thats not that?

    No- Not exactly....

But- upon wider perspective perspection I've noticed someone else that cannot be denied!!!!

    STEVE PERRY !!!!!

    Yes- Steve Perry

Who else is covered & imitated by singers performing in his own band which he is still a shareholder....not to mention the Americian Idol singalong shows....always mimicking Steve Perry's voice....

He IS THE VOICE of Americian pop rock...

Neil Diamond aint got jack shit on him.

Even Anthrax vocalist Joey Belledona has a tribute band

When Rodney Dangerfield cranks up the tunes on the golf course in his golf club bag stereo... Who is playing.???

Steve Perry- Journey- Any Way You Want It

No one ever seems to acknowledge the sheer insane high magnitude of Steve Perry's input into Ameeican pop culture & rock history.

    STEVE PERRY!!!!!!!!!!

    Americian Rock!!!!!!

    Any Way You Want It

    Don't Stop Believing
but I don't know if that speaks to his abilities as a "front man" or just people really like his voice. I've not seen much live video of Steve Perry so i'm not sure how much energy he brought to a show. To be able to sing the songs while bringing the energy, those are traits of Mick, Diamond Dave, Freddie, Bono (and Peter Wolf, damn it!) and others.
