Songs like YRGM, WHATGTG, DITS, PW and even YNG were rock songs that answer the question: what if Van Halen added their unique sound to this song?
Same with the old timey songs BBB and Happy Trails -- they maintained the genre but added their sound.
Ice Cream Man is the only one to me, that is not just VH playing it, but completely re-arranging it into another genre that fits them better. It's their most original cover and gets my vote for my favorite too.
